Thanks for starting this! I apologize for being silent on my thoughts on the tour unit thus far. Been a bit of a crazy week at the office. The good side of that is, that usually means I have time to listen at my desk while working. Spent some good quality time with the 99 Classics this last week...

They sound great...the cups are a little smaller than I expected they would be, but the woodwork is gorgeous.

I just won 2nd place in the IfI iCAN SE Intergalactic contest, and I can not wait to get my hands on my very own 99 Classics. Soon, so very soon! Not soon enough!

NCIX just posted their review.

(warning, what he says about price will make us Audiophiles do a face palm)

Mine just arrived, via the postman on his motorbike in the snow (we don't get snow here and we got a snowstorm yesterday and today).

Out-of-the-box impressions are definitely positive. It's hard to add anything when people have already done so well at describing them. They are a bit boomy in the bass for personal preference, given I usually listen with HD800s but the overall balance and clarity is good for the price with a pleasant mid-range and treble response.  I wish that the ear pads were larger.

I'll run them in and see if the bass tightens and treble smooths out at all as there is a tiny bit of discomfort in the presentation.

Mine should arrive sometime early next week. Exciting!

I was positively surprised about the aesthetics and overall build quality.
They look much better in real life than on the pictures on the web. Earpads and headband are very soft and comfy, though they could be a bit larger, especially for my large ears. Getting a good seal and comfort though.

I think for portable use the bass emphasis is just right, though it would be a bit much for my personal preference in a quiet environment (although the bass is just very moderately emphasised and less than many in-Ears and full-sized headphones - e.g. the Meze has got less bass than the 1MORE Over-Ear Headphones).
Sound quality seems quite solid so far, especially in the midrange and treble department - good mids and treble details. Some slight sort of weakness regarding sound is the bass - should be a bit better refined and more solid, with slightly less distortion in the sub-bass at this price point (but I'm burning them in anyway...). Bass is actually better, it was the source (Blackberry Q10 - don't judge me, I was too lazy to grab one of my dedicated DAPs) that produced the distortion for some strange reason - comparing back and forth between the DX80 and the simple source (Q10) I initially used, the simple source (Q10) produces some distortion in the lows with the 99 Classics - on the DX80 (and other sources except for the Q10), the lows are better and show less distortion and more control, however they could be a slight bit better resolving and quicker (treble and mids are higher resolving than the lows from what I perceive).
Overall initial impression is relatively solid and good nonetheless.

Suggestions for improvement: the cables - they're rather prone to microphonics because of the fabric/polyester coating. Imho above the y-split, the cable should be coat-less (similar to HD 800's cable).

Just a few very initial impressions from the first few hours of listening (so take them with a grain of salt). Might write a review sometime, but probably not before late spring/summer (which would be the earliest date; got different things on my schedule first).

Hello there,

Glad to see the thread is starting to take shape.

We've listened to you and what we understood is that there is a feeling that the bass is a bit "shaky" at first.

That is why we recommend burning the 99 Classics in. We found this thread, it has links to 44.1kHz 16-bit stereo .wav files. You should check the thread out if you haven't already.

I got mine and passed it to my girl since she is more fashionable than me and I always use an amp. I will be doing a review but it will be a while.
Thank you folks very much. It is gorgeous. I have not listened to it yet. Not a big believer in burn in but I'll do it anyway just to say I did.

You guys are great. Thanks!

Hooray!!! Mine arrived today (still waiting on my iCan micro SE)! Too busy breaking them in, and really digging the sound to write anything much ATM! I will post an impressions pre-review tomorrow once I run them through the pre-burn in paces. I will say this though, people must have giant ears if they think the ear pads are more in the realm of on-ear...or maybe I have smaller ears than I think. Regardless, they fit like a glove!
