Sorry if this question seems stupid, but I don't care looking stupid to others, I just want to learn.
I have a pair of Sony MDR CD750, and compared to the CD1000, they seem to have less bass and to have more undesirable vibrations (resonance ?).
Is there a simple and easy modification I can apply to them to get a better sound ?
I'd like to add that I don't want to turn them into an R10, but just enhance their sound a little.

You could try switching out the ear pads. The Shure SRH840 pads are pretty versatile and may help. Comfy to boot and inexpensive.

I was asking about how to enhance the sound, but anyway if switching the earpads can make them more comfortable, that can be nice.
Thanks.

So nobody has got an idea about the modifications of a CD750 ?
I thought there were more people knowing how to enhance headphones on this forum.

Most people here don't run 20 year old headphones...
There is very little Google info on those as well, except they came out in 92 and a couple of pic's with bluetack stuff on the drivers is about all I found.
Good luck in your quest to revive some old cans!

'cos we are running 30 years old hphones!
I've got my hands on Sony MDR CD950
It's a peace of equipment. For 100 bucks sounds heavenly.
Easy modded, just put out big puck of foam and cover inside with sound adsorbed duct tape. Bass revealed.

Interesting ! Where do you get this kind of foam ?
Do you have any photos of your modification ?

This foam was between speaker/driver and back wall.
There are plenty of space there. May be later I'll find some resin to make it resonance free.
Now it's just reflection free.
Next stage of this mod will be with photos 🙂
