FiiO F5- Aerospace Titanium Diaphragm In-ear Monitor

So, no longer available on Aliexpress, did FiiO pull them to sort out the cables??? Amazon never had them, might be able to grab some from Adorama, but should I wait?
Also, anyone have the EX1 first edition? How do these compare? Worth buying, or just stick with my EX1's?
I agree with Hungry Panda on not liking cables with a remote and mic, buttons on my X5ii work fine.

I've had the F5 awaiting shipment for about 3 weeks now, however, I ordered it right around the time the issues with cables/connectors were being reported. I've been correspondig with Fiio about when it will be delivered - and they've been very responsive an polite - they've told me it was last Thursday. The status of the item has not changed on Ali, but i did get a DHL notification via text. Thing is, I have so many items enroute, I cant be sure what it is. You know, a real first world delemma! Anyways, all this to say that I think that they will re-up the Ali add for the F5 once the issues are sorted, and presumably theyre pretty close.

Sorry we are worry about the quality issues so we will like to wait some days and collect the feedback from the end user in China .

I think that is wise. I have a pair of F5s, the sound quality for the price is very good. One of my hobbies is clock and watch repair so I have some high magnification and some tools to manipulate small cogs etc. The connectors on the phones themselves are not deep enough, the center connector is too wide and not round, it is split into 2 half moons so it is possible to correct its shape with a fine pointed tools, the metal may be too thin and soft to repeat too often. The outer flange conector is too slack and not deep enough, it is not split, it just has a ridge, the only solution I've found is a tiny drop and I mean tiny, (or the cables that you have in will never come out) on one side of Loctite 270 High Strength Studlock. (it's used for making nuts vibration proof).
The remote works best with the X5iii and my old Sony experia Z (old android), but at work, it produced variable results with all other mobiles and daps but thats the joy of android everthing is different almost no two are the same. I've not tried it with and 'idevice' but all their OS are very similar. I'd drop the remote if I were you, with andriod in particular you will never win, ( you even manged the make your own R1 stop working with one of your X5iii/X7 updates).

Every one who tries them enjoys the sound for price but the minute a connection is lost and the sound cuts out you loose a customer! Rethink the depth and fit of mmcx conector, perhaps a screw lock and up the quality control!

NB I own my F5s, they are not a Fiio trial pair.

Yes, in fact, we may release a F5 se which removed the mmcx and inline control features .

Hey James, do you have news of a FiiO F9 coming to market, or that is still not here?

I would buy that in a heartbeat, especially if it was cheaper.

No need for a balanced cable either - just plain old 3.5mm, hard wired to the IEM with no mic or inline controls.

Just like how KZ offers most of their IEMs in 2 versions - 1 with mic/control and 1 with no mic or controls.

really liked the fact that it had mmcx option and would enable to use after market cables. removing the in-line controls is a good idea IMO.

I would not have bought the F5 if it wasn't for the MMCX connectors, personally. I really value the idea of greatly prolonging the life of an IEM with detacheable cables. I typically use IEM's when exercising so I'm prone to snags, but regardless, it is nice to be able to swap cables in general.

I can now be added to the list of the SE/Mic cable failing on the right side (no audio). Yay for me! The Balanced cable works fantastic though!

Dear friend,

Sorry to hear about that. The right unit can work well when pluging in the left side of the SE cable, right? Please send email to support@fiio.net about that.

Best regards

I agree with the above. I would have purchased a KZ something or other if it weren't for the MMCX connectors on the F5.

Agreed. I, too, bought the F5s because of the MMCX connectors and the included balanced cable. I would buy the F5s again even if a balanced cable was no longer included but I would probably start looking elsewhere if the MMCX connectors were eliminated.
