Got news from W4S regarding the driver that doesnt work on my DAC2 with Windows 10 and the news is that THEY WONT BE A NEW DRIVER FOR THE DAC2 BECAUSE THEY SAY AFTER 7 YEARS ITS DISCONTINUED .but DAC2 DSD and SE i think it is will have a new driver So if i want to use it with my PC i will have to to pay $1000.00US for the V2 upgrade and i bought this thing at a dealer 2 years ago as a demos with a 1 year warranty .So basically it would cost me $1000.00 every 7 years to stick with W4S. So im betting that DAC2 owners are going to be pretty pissed. But they say i can still use it with a cd player ,RIGHT when all my music is on my PC .Thanks alot.

Got an update regarding outdated driver it seems that it is possible to upgrade the DAC2 with the new usb module that will also be DSD compatible so it will now become the DAC2 DSD and will incorporate the new driver but at a price of course

Wow. That is a bit much. Can't you upgrade to the new v2 for about the same?
The V2 upgrade is $1100.00 -$200.00 =$900.00+ shipping both ways +exchange A new one starts at $1839.00 + options +shipping +exchange +duty its crazy .Usually i would buy used over here it would be ,cheaper but at this point i own a paper weight i dont have a choice .

Hello,

I have the original W4S DAC-2 plain version (no DSD), the manual says that its USB input can accept maximum 192/24, but in Foobar player (output settings) 32 bits are selectable, and when I choose 32 bit output, W4S DAC-2 still plays music normally.

Does anybody know what's going on when 192/32 is fed to DAC-2 via USB? Does it really support this format, or does it discard anything beyond 24 bits?

Perhaps the manual is wrong?

I got a reply from Wyred Support: "Yes, the DAC will play and support upto 192/32."

I have the same DAC and have been able to get it to accept and playback 192/24

Have you checked the Windows Sound Settings for your device to ensure it's been set to 192/24 in the Advanced tab?
Are you using WASAPI?

I use WASAPI (event).

Have you checked both Foobar's output device and Windows sound panel to see if output is set to 192/24. Windows setting shouldn't matter with WASAPI, but it's still worth a check.

Why are you so fixated on Windows sound settings? Mine are always set to 192/24, but they don't matter. DAC-2 uses its own driver.
When I resample in Foobar to 88 kHz or 96 or 176, DAC-2 shows, accordingly, that it's accepting 88 or 96 or 176 - not 192 kHz set in Windows.

What are you driving at? You don't believe that DAC-2 can accept 192/32 via USB input?

I'm trying to understand your configuration so I can help and part of any diagnostic is to rule out as much as possible.. Since I've gotten my DAC2 working with 192/32 via USB and you haven't....

Good luck fixing it - I'll leave you to it as you clearly aren't interested in my assistance.

Why on earth did you decide that I haven't been able to get my DAC2 working with 192/32? I wrote: "in Foobar player (output settings) 32 bits are selectable, and when I choose 32 bit output, W4S DAC-2 still plays music normally".

I thought it was you why could not get his DAC2 to play 192/32, because you wrote earlier at first: "I have the same DAC and have been able to get it to accept and playback 192/24".
