Diana: the second release by Abyss Headphones!

Wow. The black Diana really looks like a miniature AB1266. Glad to see this new color scheme. (Coincidentally, I posted in this thread a long time ago about the FA-005 color scheme, black, white, brown -- so I'm naturally happy it turned out like this).

I think I might be getting one .... now I have to decide which color. Since I already got an AB1266 ... might be getting one in brown. But the white looks really nice too. Just have to wait for the final version and the final price.

Diana has Abyss DNA through and though, she can play bass, no worries here. However, Diana is not a an AB-1266, nor was she designed to be.

This is a headphone that plays well on more gear. Tonal balance is excellent, distortion is very low, she will play clean and loud, or subtly quiet.
Fit is comfortable and she's durable in all climates. This is a very different headphone, just like the AB-1266 was years ago.

Comparing to the AB-1266 is not really the idea. Instead, compare her to any any other headphone. If you want everything the AB-1266 offers, there is no other choice.

Thanks Joe for your clarification on the sound difference, the Diana will absolutley be a headphone we will promote in our store and a "to-go -headphone for me!

Can you evaluate in short about the future diffrent Diana versions that some person mentioned here?

Will it be any sonic differences between the Diana versions or more a Lite and Exclusive package version like the Abyss AB-1266?

Thanks for your support Fredrik!

For now there will be 3 color choices. Cable will come terminated with a 3.5 mm plug with 6.3 mm adaptor. A 2.5 mm balanced, new 4.4 mm, or a 4 pin XLR can be optionally ordered. For those who seek unique, in the future she will have dress hand-made from exotics such as ostrich or snake skin, albeit at a significantly higher price.

As with the AB-1266 packages, all Diana's will have the same inherent sound. Future ear pad options (sold separately) will allow for a change of tuning and wearability.

Expect to begin shipping in August...

Sounds great!

A Carbon edition with carbon fiber inlays combined with alcantara as a more exclusive version would be cool, if you ever consider that route

Beautiful! Have you announced the price range for the standard edition Diana yet?

@Stillhart Thanks. Anticipated price is 3000 USD.

We have a CF look on the adjustable headband sliders. There are many dress possibilities for Diana, have to start somewhere, naked has crossed our minds.. smiley_abyss1.gif

I remember him, he was just kinda goofing off, but you're right, we had many visitors who were new to this level of headphone, which is a good thing. We placed the driver up and forward of center so the cable most definitely needs to exit the rear for it to fit. The connector will be slightly shorter than what you see in the pix, the final shape will be molded and inset into the corner, clears the shoulders no problem.

Hope the cables eventually match the colour of the black version of the headphones. White on black seems a bit weird.

Diana will be available in September. Abyss dealers are taking preorders and reserving colors.

Thousands of hours in design before the first prototype was assembled, and another year of refinement to get to this point. In the end, she's worth it!

Saw some additional info on 'enjoy the music' that I don't think has been published on here yet:

The main driver is a very large 63mm patent-pending planar speakers to "deliver stunning sound". Diana headphones weigh in at 330 grams, present a 40 Ohm impedance, and have a sensitivity of 88dB/mw. Included with the Abyss Diana are a custom made five foot cable by JPS Labs with 3.5mm stereo plug (4 pin XLR or new 4.4mm balanced plug is optional).

Very similar specs to the 1266 Phi - Driver is only 3mm smaller and impedance is 2 ohms lower. Same sensitivity.
AND HALF THE WEIGHT! (ish)

According to Joe, the Abyss Phi is still in a different league even though specs seem almost the same, so it would be interesting to hear a comment from Joe on why the Abyss Phi sound better? Is the drive much more advanced and more expensive maybe..
