Heh, I thought it was just 15 days or a post count of 10 too. I guess I'll try and slide in some relevant posts. I don't want to necro any really old threads in the process though.

Why this strange limitation? To increase traffic on an already popular website?
 
I think it will just result in 20% users posting stuff they normally would not, resulting in more junk messages. Like most messages in this thread, partly including the one you currently reading.
 
The other 80% will simply never change their avatar, because it's normally something people do directly after registration. Resulting in more users without avatars. Which is bad as well.
 
Why not simply use Gravatar?

I think this is way too many restrictions just to combat spam booths.
There are other ways to check if you are dealing with booths, not to force users to post a number of posts to verify them.
