I have only heard the Axon 7 Mini Myself. But also heard people say the mini sounded better through earphone jack. But also seem to remember people saying that the Axon 7 sound improved with newest firmware update. So they may be closer now. DAC and AMP are same, though integrated in the mini. Possible improvements were made as the mini came after the full size model.

Did I read somewhere that the Axon 7 Mini sounds better than the Axon 7?!
I have heard both and the mini does indeed sound better, don't ask me to compare them anymore, last I had my chance to listen to axon 7 was 6 months ago, can no longer describe the whole difference. From memory I can say that the mini just has a bit bigger soundstage, sounds clearer and more neutral/natural, detailed.

Still no one with any experience of sound quality on teh Moto g5? I am looking for a budget phone like the G5 with a 5" or less screen, and just need relatively decent sound! But nobody seems to know anything about the audio quality online? reviews never go into it!

BTW, can the Mini drive 32 Ohm IEMs? Because the Zenfone 3 can't.

I would say yes, atleast it has no problems with my panasonic hde10s wich are 32ohm and either with my soundmagic e80 that are 64ohm. The Eu version does have a bug with it's amp, which gets set to low gain occasionally.

But the way they have it once it bugs between high gain and low gain volume works wrong, you only get increased the vocals, rest of the music gets barely affected that can not be right, that can not be right can it?. Also There is a difference between just loud and proper amplification. Sometimes it is just ridicules how much low gain messes with sound quality. Luckely volume booster apps seem to fix it every time.
