M-Audio Studiophile AV30 Professional Reference Speakers

This set of speakers are like the nerfed version of the M-Audio AV40's.  They have generally the same conveniences as the AV40's (headphone jack, volume control on powered speaker) but being smaller, they are have a less powerful bass, which is expected.  While they worked, they were pretty good as a minor setup for my laptop in a different room.
 
I also used these as a more portable alternative to my Logitech Z-2300 set when I had to travel to some other location for an extended period of time that didn't require a permanent move.  So these speakers had some gaming experience, and they're okay for that.  I wouldn't say they're awesome, since they have a limited sound stage, and limited bass.
 
But the, one day about 16 months into ownership, the powered speaker became mute.  I was extremely puzzled.  I started hooking up various audio sources, changing the source wire several times to no relief.   The non-powered speaker was pumping out sound, but nothing was coming out of the powered speaker. Eventually, the whole system failed within 2 months, and the only noise coming from the speakers was a buzz when powered on.
 
So in case you ever find a pair of these speakers used floating around somewhere, buyer beware, they're probably close to death or dead.  My pair found its way into the dumpster, since it was cheaper just to buy a new pair of speakers than to have the pair I had repaired. (Don't get me started on the help ticket cost, more or less the hourly charge they issue when fixing your speakers on top of the shipping to and from their repair center.)
