This is the first pair of high-er quality over the ear headphones...except for the Shure SRH440's that I'm returning.
It was a very hard decision between the two though. A lot of it came down to the bulk of the Shure's. The Denon's on the other hand are amazingly light and comfortable and stay in place perfectly. The Shure's slipped around a bit under the force of their own weight when I was moving around.
I actually preferred the overall sound balance of the Shure's, which is what made the decision so hard. Ultimately they both sounded pretty great, but the Denon's bass is quite noticeably heavier. Which sounds great for some music, but seems a bit out of proportion for some as well.
If the Shure's were bit lighter and sleeker they would have been a clear choice for me.
