HifiMAN HE-6 Planar Magnetic Headphone
People are just freaking out. One person says something and its like scaring an animal and watching a stampede start. The HE6 takes about 1/4 the voltage of a k1k and a little more than half the current. Its 1/8 the power needed to drive a k1k. K1000 101 db 512mW 120 ohm 7.84V...- Pyriel0

Do You Prefer the Sound of Stax Phones Using Transformers or Amps
I am not doubting you this is an honest question. Have you only heard the stax transformer boxes or any customs? I have been toying with the idea of trying stax but I would buy the x75 plitron electrostatic step up transformers to use with my amp. I have wondered for a long time if a high end...- Pyriel0

I've never heard mine humming. Hopefully it didn't get internal damage during shipping. I just bought some wire and a 4 pin xlr from parts express to make my adapter. I just leave the 4 pin coming from the F1 next to my pc monitor so I don't have to worry about connecting/disconnecting from the...- Pyriel0

Now I'm just waiting for the first time he uses it for a few hours and then puts his hand on it lol. You mean a mechanical hum or you hooked the headphones up and heard noise through them?- Pyriel0

HE-6 Loaner Program
Does anyone know the impedance / sensitivity of the new version since at least the latter has changed from the loaner pair? Sorry if it was posted, I haven't read the last couple pages. Edit: Nevermind supposedly its about the same sensitivity as the he5-le from the post in the EU thread.- Pyriel0

The K1K easily beats the the K701 at speed. Listen to #41 by Dave Matthews Band from 2:30 to 3:00, especially from 2:48 to 2:55. On the K701 things begin to jumble and just become a lump of noise. On the K1K every instrument is more separated and easy to pick out. This is from listening to both...- Pyriel0

HE-6 Loaner Program
Quote: The only headphone amp I use is the lavry headphone out anymore. I haven't really sat down and compared the da11 hp out to the firstwatt outputs. Its more just for peace of mind on my end anyone lol, to make certain I know whatever I am listening to isn't being held back so I don't...- Pyriel0

HE-6 Loaner Program
Quote: You can as long as you have 2 wires going to each driver(balanced wiring). I listen to my K701 and DX1000 from my Firstwatt F1. I have to put an 8 ohm resistor across each output with the DX1000 though because they are soo sensitive and I have to turn the volume down a bit to use...- Pyriel0

HE-6 Loaner Program
Describing how a headphone sounds will naturally take comparisons to other headphones. I, for one, am interested in how the he6 sounds compared to the lcd2, along with all the other high end headphones out.- Pyriel0

Any current Stax O2 owners heard the Audeze LCD-2?
Yeah because anyone here can afford to go out and spend thousands and thousands of dollars on test equipment to take a couple measurements to make one person happy. Tyll will get to it when he has a chance. And btw on the Japanese site you posted the 007 graph from, compare their k701...- Pyriel0

Sennheiser HD800 + ???
The soundblasters are rated at 2vrms to the best of my knowledge(at least mine is and I'm pretty sure they are all the same). Of course there will be clipping if you have the crystalizer at 100% + volume maxed. You are asking it to put out more than it can due to the crystalizer boost. 2vrms...- Pyriel0

Building a Headphone Measurement Lab
When I listen to music in foobar and look at the visualization, the top end(treble) of the "dynamic chart" (for lack of a better term) is already knocked down quite a few db from the bass/mids. This is on music that doesn't have the greatest recordings like metal and some rock. I imagine the...- Pyriel0

Just received my HD800 :) Anybody else using the HD800 with a Lavry DA10 / DA11?
I don't know if the little bit of added bass makes it sound more flat or if the treble is more controlled/brought down a notch or both happen. It just sounds better on the speaker amp. I remember when I used the 2x shanling ph100's, I thought it was tilted towards the treble a little bit. Out...- Pyriel0

Glad you like them. At this point you are going to be running into the law of diminishing returns. I bought my F1 for peace of mind so I wouldn't have to worry about future upgrades lol(all the reviews were very positive). I think the k1000 sounds better off it than the lavry hp out but it is...- Pyriel0

Carl I'm done with this thread after this post. Test something that is actually high end before you complain left and right. Edit; I'm sorry I meant test high end stuff with other high end stuff to see if there is a weak link. NOT what you have done. "I tested a bunch of $200 stuff and...- Pyriel0
