Congrats on the D50! It's an awesome tool. I got into photography mid last year and now shoot canon DSLR (350D) and Nikon film (FM3A). I started off with with the zooms 10-22,18-55, 24-105 but found that my creativeness and results were much better with primes. The 18-55mm kit lens was great...

My vote is for the AD2000. AD2000 + AC/DC = Awesome base punch and very airy impactful sound. Very comfortable to boot.

covenant - did you have to pay taxes (GST) or customs duty on the Raptor?

I have a normal sized head and my ad2000s apply minimal pressure on the sides. The headphones are featherlight so they are supremely comfortable around the head however they can irritate the ears. The Audio Technica Wing headband design is the best headphone headband design imo.

Do any other of the AD2000 owners feel that the ear cups can be uncomfortable as your ear lobes actually touch the driver due to the size of the earpiece?

I'm coming and will bring along audio technica ATH-AD2000.

I'm still debating over the ray samuels hornet or the AE-1. Both are yet to release production pics though.

I owned the W1000 and benchmark for about 1 month. It's a bright and analytical combination. Not enough bass and the midrange felt sucked out. The only music I truly enjoyed with the combination was baroque classical. Edit: I really enjoyed the W1000s but did not like the benchmark.
