Supporting Musicians & My Personal Dilemma
I torrent most of my music. But I want to start buying music since I understand that it's important to support the artists that I like. So I see my options as A) MP3s, B) CDs, C) LPs. Benefits of A: Reduce physical waste. Benefits of B: I don't really see any. Benefits of C...- Calexico

Help Identifying Song
I was listening to Bruce Springsteen's song "My Father's House" when I heard this lyric: "She said 'I'm sorry son but no one by that name lives here anymore'" I swear I've heard this line somewhere else before. Most likely in another song, as an allusion to Springsteen's song. Any... -
Titus Andronicus
Ok, these guys are basically awesome. The Monitor is among the top tier of albums released in the past 5 years (imho of course), and I've been listening to Local Business this past week or so and it has some pretty great songs too (nowhere near as strong as The Monitor as a full album though)...- Calexico

Iron & Wine: Kiss Each Other Clean
His new album. Awesome album art. My first time listening to it, the only song that stood out to me was Walking Far From Home, which was absolutely phenomenal. Hopefully the rest of the album grows on me (It didn't sound too great on first listen) but this one just hit me... -
New Albums from Belle & Sebastian and Sufjan Stevens
Belle & Sebastian Write about Love http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belle_%26_Sebastian_Write_About_Love The Age of Adz http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Age_of_Adz Write About Love is pretty nice. Seems very... inconsequential though. Nothing is really grabbing me, but hopefully... -
The Walkmen - Lisbon
Their new album. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lisbon_(album) Has anyone checked it out? I'm listening to it right now. I have Bows + Arrows and barely listen to it. I like Lisbon so far. My first impression of The Walkmen was The Rat so this sounds very toned down in comparison, but... -
New Sufjan Stevens: All Delighted People & The Age of Adz
Did a quick search and didn't see this come up, so... http://sufjanstevens.bandcamp.com/album/all-delighted-people-ep It's... okay. It sounds careless compared to Illinois. I like it now. Not as much as Illinois but I mean I didn't expect to. What's with his guitar solos though... -
Cheap (<$50) Closed Headphones - Need isolation
I've got some Grado SR60i that I really enjoy for their sound quality, but I'd like some cheap closed headphones for when I'm out and about. I'm looking to spend at most about $50, preferably less. Sound quality isn't all that important. I want: Very good isolation - the more the better...- Calexico

Mac OS X Quick Look Help
I have Leopard and I'd just like to know how to make quick look show images in their actual size, if it is possible. I don't like how when I quick look images, half of them are shrunken and half of them are stretched. Why did they think of making it this way in the first place? It's dumb.- Calexico

Music Similar To "What Have You Done Today Mervyn Day?" by Saint Etienne + "In Good Company" by Stephen Trask
To start off, I STRONGLY recommend this album! I'm looking for some similar music to this album. I downloaded Saint Etienne's Foxbase Alpha but it's not similar at all. Mervyn Day is almost completely instrumental besides some speech segments. Apparently it was the soundtrack for their... -

I need silicone ear tips for my Sony MDR-EX71
I've lost so many pairs that all I'm left with is a third party large tip, and a third party small tip. The large one doesn't fit really at all so I can only listen with one side of the headphones. So... I obviously need to get some new ones. Where is the cheapest place I can order/buy them...- Calexico

Opera 10 Beta Help
I'm having a bit of trouble finding the solution on Google. How do I disable speed dial from appearing every time I open a new tab? I'd like for my home page to open up on each new tab instead. PS. I'm on a Mac.- Calexico

No such thing as time - Question about Albert Einstein
My English teacher is trying to convince us that there is no such thing as time. The past, present, and future are a conception used by humans because we can't comprehend the "truth". This truth is that all things exist at once and all things happen at once. People may think that they are acting...- Calexico

Jennifer Connelly on a Pier
Sorry this is completely random, but I watched these three movies in rapid succession, and I couldn't help but laugh in these quite serious movies! Requiem for a Dream Dark City House of Sand and Fog It's like a running Hollywood joke or something. Or Jennifer Connelly just...- Calexico

Preferred Song/Album Duration
I was just wondering how long people like their music, in terms of songs and albums. For me, I think the sweet spot for music I really enjoy is at 4-5 minutes per song, and 35-45 minutes per album. However, if the music isn't all that interesting, or is something less exciting such as... -
Ripping CDs
I have quite a few ripped CDs that I'd like to import back onto my computer. Can I just drag the files in? I see people using stuff like XLD or EAC to rip the CDs with CD Paranoia or whatever, but if I just drag the files in, won't they be uncorrupted/messed up?- Calexico

Nevermind
I don't have funds for this venture anymore, but the help is appreciated and once I get some more money I'll keep it in mind. I'm looking for computer speakers to run from my iMac (current gen)'s headphone out. I'm not sure how speaker placement works exactly, but I'd like the speakers to be...- Calexico

Slanted & Enchanted: Luxe & Reduxe
All I'm really interested in is the actual tracks on the album. Apparently the album was remastered for the re-release. Which one has better SQ? Or whichever isn't as terrible, considering how horrible the original sounds. I haven't read anything about remasters for the other 3 re-releases... -
Cheap (~$30) IEMs with low microphonics, good isolation, and forward mids
Really overall SQ isn't too important for me, Sennheiser MX400 or better would be fine. Currently I have the Sony MDR-EX71s. I'd like microphonics to be on par with the EX71 or better. I used to have the RE2s but they were WAY too much for me to handle. I don't want to wear a shirt clip. As for...- Calexico

Billy Cobham's Spectrum - Similar Music
I really love Billy Cobham's Spectrum. I have one other album by him, The Funky Thide of Sings. Don't really like it at all actually. Then I have Mahavishnu Orchestra's Birds of Fire and Inner Mounting Flame. Both are decent and I enjoy them when I'm in the mood, but I'm looking for stuff more... -
Iron & Wine Live Recordings/Albums
Which ones are best? In terms of sound quality, performance level, audience etiquette. Doesn't really matter if they're official or not. The ones listed on Wikipedia are... Iron & Wine Live Bonnaroo Live Session (iTunes exclusive) Live at Lollapalooza 2006 And I might as well ask where...
