    Sony MDR-800ST Review

Kiteki, sorry if I offended you but I didn't say they were Sony's most hated earphones, I said that I didn't think they were worth their price tag and that I've seen them slapped with negative comments by other people ;) We all have different tastes so if you are happy with them who am I to...

    Sony MDR-800ST Review

Hey, sorry, got caught up with work :p   Good to hear people are benefitting from this review.   a_recording: Sorry I haven't heard many other IEMs since I prefer full headphones. I was also surprised to read that the 800STs have less highs than the others since monitors usually have...

    Sony MDR-800ST Review

Since there aren't many reviewws in English on these phones, I thought I'd write one. Of course all the opinions expressed here are my views, but I hope that this will at least help someone considering purchasing these phones to make a decision. Happy reading      About me First...

What model is the Sony MDR-7550 based on? Perhaps the MDR-EX600?

I think the 7550 is the US version of the 800ST. Whether they are exactly the same I don't know but they look the same and the specs are the same.

eXStata DIY Electrostatic Amp for Intermediate DIYers

So I got home from work just now and the boards arrived! Yippee! They look as stunning as everyone says Now I just got to scrounge together the parts and put it together Just a quick question. Regarding transformers, I will probably need to get a custom one made since there seem to be no...

eXStata DIY Electrostatic Amp for Intermediate DIYers

Regarding stax plug sizes, the older and lower end cables have the usual round plug, where the high end cables like on the SR404 LE have wider wire and they stick out a bit from the sides of the plug making it a kind of old school flying saucer type shape. Those sticky out bits might get in the...

eXStata DIY Electrostatic Amp for Intermediate DIYers

Regarding scratchyness, I have some SR303s that have never done that since I bought them. However I have bought an SR001 which does do it... kind of. I bought them new not too long ago and I was curious if the ear pieces could be modded with damping so I opened one side up to take a look inside...

eXStata DIY Electrostatic Amp for Intermediate DIYers

Just a quick question about power transformers. What is the recommended secondary voltage spec for the hybrid? On site, it mentions 240VCT on the scematic but the BOM says to get a 250VCT. I remember a load of discussion a while back in the thread about the Hammond 270xxx and 269xxx and which...

Regarding balanced vs SE, how about if I want say 600V at the output. For SE, that means the volume pot will need to be turned to say position X. But for balanced, the pot will be turned to half of X, or basically the amp will need to amplify half as much? So keeping that in mind, won't...

Is there any news on if there is going to be a new run of boards available? I'd be up for one and there seems to be a few guys earlier in the thread showing interest. How many boards/requests would be needed to make a next run feasible?

    Kenwood KH-K1000

Wow, these cans seem to have a pretty big following now. I was considering these a while back when they were first released here but I decided against them because they were not very neutral. I don't own them so I can't really write with any great authority but listening to them in the shop for...

    Fostex T50RP

First post I just recently got a pair of T50RPs and I am currently listening to/burning them in now. They're mainly for work listening. They probably need a little more time but right now they sound very nice. I have a STAX SR303 and 313 amp as my main setup and so they are my direct...
