Anyone compared home vs portable amps for same price?
Hi, I'm just wondering if anyone has done direct comparisons between home amps and portable amps. I imagine the home ones will have an advantage in that they have mains rather than batteries. Rega Ear Amp very very loud !
the volume control hardly needs any rotation until ear-splitting volumes are reached (using senn hd580's). if 7 o'clock is zero volume, 8 is loud, and 9 is *ouch* loud. i've found the Harrison Labs Attenuators available from headroom in both 6dB and 12dB versions. now i know 3dB is a doubling...- robert_cyrus

amp advice for senn 580's - can't audition all of them
hi. after browsing through here a lot, there seem 2 b a few contenders for amp to partner with the senn 580's. i'm in the uk and i believe can only audition the x-can's and the creek. ones i can't are the mg head and the headroom little. replacement pads needed 4 senn hd480's
hi. bought senn hd480's years ago (1989 i think) for approx £50. nothing wrong with them, except over time, the foam pads completely deteriorated 2 dust. i know u can buy replacements from senn 4 £25 or £30, but i figure that's kind of uneconomical (esp. as i've just bought hd580's new for £68...- robert_cyrus
