If you found out the D7000 is "mids being recessed and the treble being a little too sharp/bright sometimes, while the bass is mostly the same", I think that is obviously D7000 is not well amplified.  Compare with D5000, D7000 will be more neutral and balanced, and SQ just a step ahead of D5000...

This made me remember the time I was in school, one of the classmate using a headphone, placed it on the desk, and increase the volume to the degree that she did not need to wear it but the headphone act as a mini speaker on the desk......   Creative if you may say.

Yes that what I think, in the future. Blackgate is hot in US, but there are a lots other option there too. Like here in Japan most people will not use Blackgate (may be just because too difficult to get one).
