Are the Bifrost and the V200 a good match?

Hi   I am thinking of selling on my Lyr, although it is a fantastic amp, I find having to deal with tubes an annoyance. Would it be a bad idea if I kept the bifrost and moved to the V200?   Tim

Disappointed with my Sennheiser HD598s. Thoughts about this..

If I was in your shoes, i'd jump to the he-400 straight away. If they are your dream can, most likely you'll buy them at some point in the future, (especially given the amount of positive feedback they've earned on here.) You'll save more money in the long run by not purchasing an...

Disappointed with my Sennheiser HD598s. Thoughts about this..

I play(ed) the trumpet. I'd point you towards the HE-400. I think brass sounds great on them. I have not heard the 598/600/650 though.

New Hifiman Headphone HE-400 is out

Quote: Massive improvement IMO. I upgraded from the AD700 to the HE400, and I was initially dubious whether they would be worth the money. Having owned the HE400 for ~ 2 months I can say it's one of the best purchases I made. The detailing is incredible, instruments sound more true to life...

    A question about volume...

So if i'm running pc>dac>lyr>headphones you'd recommend having the PC set at 100% and the Lyr at ~10% or so?   Sounds like a bit of an accident waiting to happen..

    A question about volume...

I'm sure this question has been asked before but...    In a typical set up you have two volume controls i.e, one for the amp, one for the PC.    what's the best way to have them set?   Should you have PC volume set to 100% amp set to 30%? Amp set to ~80% PC ~20%? Both at 50:50? (Same...

Just bought a pair of HD650 with the old drivers -- should I be worried?

Quote: Good news :) can you link me to any evidence or is this just personal opinion?

Just bought a pair of HD650 with the old drivers -- should I be worried?

Hi    Just bought a pair of HD650 with the old drivers -- should I be worried?   Some people say they have a more veiled sound?   I'll be running them out of a Lyr, so amping shouldn't be too much of a problem.   Cheers

Please help me choose between the HD650 and the HE-400?

I bought the HE400 about a month ago (they're mindblowing) Lyr and Bifrost are in the post.    Just pulled the trigger on a pair of HD650s as well.   *sigh*

    Asgard vs. Lyr

Hi    At present, I am running the he-400 off the audioengine D1 amp/dac.   I have a few quick  questions:   1. Is the Lyr worth the extra money over the Asgard, i've heard good things about both? Are tube amps difficult to run/dangerous etc?   2. Lastly, assume I purchase the...

I want to exhange d2000 for something else...

I was in exactly the same boat As you. Bought the ad700, loved them. Wanted something better, bought the d2000 and was dissapointed. I went back to the ad700. Fast forward to now and I have just bought the hifiman he400. I love them. They're great all rounders. They have the detail of the ad700s...

    **Help Me Find Amp/DAC for HE400 £150**

Hi   I am looking to buy a head amp and dac for about £150 (flexible) to power my newly ordered he-400s. It will be plugged into my laptop via USB.   If possible i'd also like to be able to use the amp with my hifi speaker separates system.    Any suggestions? :)

Please help me choose between the HD650 and the HE-400?

The thing that concerns me is the HE400s are said to be quite distant, and veiled. The one thing I like about the ad700 is the involving mids. Although I don't think a grado-esque headphone would be for me. Thoughts?

Please help me choose between the HD650 and the HE-400?

Hey,    I am upgrading from a pair of audio-technica ad700s, which I love, but it's time for an upgrade. I owned a pair of Denon D2Ks and I didn't really like them compared to the ad700s, everything sounded a bit muffled and recessed.    I'm not really a bass head, prefer mid range...

Time for some new cans! £300 Budget

Hey    I bought the audio technica ad700s back in 2009. I then bought the denon d2000s about 6 months later.    My D2ks broke, so I went back to using the ad700s, and in all honesty I enjoyed listening to the ad700s far more. The Denon's always sounded a bit congested to me.    I...

Ok, So I am Ready to Buy AD700s?

Do it. They are a great all round can for the money and don't need any dedicated amplification.

About to pull the trigger on the ad700?

I have no idea whether to go for them being not able to audition them in person and having only heard a limited number of headphones.

About to pull the trigger on the ad700?

Hey. I've had a pair of HD485's for about 1.25 years, and am looking to upgrade. I have been looking at the ad700s, but have been warned about their lack of bass, however I do not see this as much of an issue as I feel the 485s bass often clouds the upper frequencies, how much am I going...
