    Sound card upgrade?

HT OMEGA. Either the Claro+ or the Halo. I have compared ALL of the following with my trusty AH-D2000's: Audigy2, Prelude, EMU 0404 and the two Omega's. I went with the Halo and I am done looking for a a PC based source. The only way I'll stop using the Halo is if PCI slots go the way of the ISA...

Xonar DX or something else for 2.0 speakers / headphones?

In my opinion yes; however, I prefer HT Omega products over any Asus Xonar device. With that said and if you have the cash, buy both then keep the one you like best !!! By testing both you can decide which one sounds better with your JVC's. Then again with either one of these cards you may find...

HT Omega Claro Halo XT + DT-990/250s

Currently, I own the HT Omega Halo and love it. At one point, I owned a little dot MK V amp and set it up similarly to your rig Halo -> MK V -> D2000. That particular setup was stellar to my ears. So no you are not going to do any damage; however, you may wish to consider an HT Omega Claro Plus+...

    SR225 and HD650> Denon AH-D2000?

At one point I had both the D2000 and the SR225. Although I enjoyed my Grados, the Denons won me over with better bass response. As a matter of fact, the D2000 sound amazing with a good solid state amp.

Go for AD700 or save up for D2000?

In my experience, which isn't very extensive, I found the AH-D2000's to be thus far, the best "all purpose" cans I have ever used. I've tried sr-60, sr-225 and even the great dt880; although these cans are good for certain types of music, the Denons, in my opinion, are better for music, movies...

    Sennheiser pc350 headset impressions

I purchased a pair of these back in april 08. Basically, even before reading this pc350 review, I was completely underwhelmed. AH-D2000 are way better seeing how I paid almost $300 bucks for the 350's back then. Funny how much the price on these has dropped. Imagine that... Hope you have...

    Gamer oriented headphones/set

The PC 350'a are crap. I owned a pair for about a week and was utterly underwhelmed. Read this: PC 350 Review Cant speak for the other two; however, I own a pair of D2000's and they have ample sound stage. 3D positioning is phenomenal and you don't need an amp to drive them. Although the...

    Gaming Headphones for Laptop

I've been down down that path as you can tell from this pic. The grados you see here are the sr225. I purchased the sr60's, but soon discovered that they truly were not the best for gaming. Not to mention that the sound leaks out. I upgraded to the 225, but still wasn't very impressed...

HT Omega "Claro Halo" Headphone Only soundcard

I received my Halo yesterday, installed it and after only a few hours of listening and tinkering with it, I can honestly say that I am done looking for audio upgrades (at least as far as a source is concerned). This things is cyrstal clear and it drives my D2000's perfectly ( via factory low...

Do I really need an amp with D2000

I've had mine for about 8 months. They do not need an amp, but they will benefit from one. You can listen to them straight from your sound card. You can buy a nice amp/mod them down the road. Make sure you like bass because these have plenty. Not good for portable use. They are comfortable and...

Sennheiser PC350s and onboard (no bass)

Im glad to hear you like the PC 350s. I purchased a pair back in april and promptly returned them. My problem with them was that they sounded completely boxed in (no soundstage) with too much booming, muddy, farty bass. Who knows maybe I had a defective pair or maybe my source sucked (Audigy 2)...

$200 headphone: d2000 vs dt880 or others. Need opinions

I have both right now. Im keeping my denons and returning the DT880, they are a bit too bright for me. I rather enjoy the warmness of the d2000. They are also quite good for gaming. Plus they have plenty of bass.

Beyerdynamic DT-880: Hope they improve after burn in!

I just got mine about a week ago. I'm running them out of a prelude and an MK V. They are a bit bright for me. Maybe a nice tube amp will help out, but I'll be returning them soon much like the OP. I think I'll try the DT990's next.

D2000s Does the bass get more tight with burn in?

My D2000's improved quite a bit when I added the Little Dot MK V to my rig. Although I do not remember hearing boomy bass nor sibilance out of the box with the Prelude as my source.
