Creative Sound blaster E5 - Headphone amp + USB DAC with OTG + Toslink + aptX + recording + more.
I'm loving this setup, got the Onkyo player with hi res playing 24/96 files through the E5 and my stage monitors. It really is a close second best to my record player/headphone rig at home. Ya gotta watch out, the signal is really nice and clean and doesn't even hint at breaking up at any point...- dave650

Creative Sound blaster E5 - Headphone amp + USB DAC with OTG + Toslink + aptX + recording + more.
I'm loving the E5 as well, it's my first serious pocket DAC. Use digital out for music, just Bluetooth for podcasts at work. With the iPhone and the Eartech customs the whole thing cost as much as a student's car! But it's awesome.- dave650

Creative Sound blaster E5 - Headphone amp + USB DAC with OTG + Toslink + aptX + recording + more.
That's what I had been doing, but I keep running into this bug where the stock audio player stops playing. So far Foo and Onkyo haven't done that.- dave650

Creative Sound blaster E5 - Headphone amp + USB DAC with OTG + Toslink + aptX + recording + more.
I reckon I'll end up just using Foobar, even though files only come out at 16/44 I would be pretty happy with that. In my ears it's only when files go down to MP3 that you can hear the cymbals and other high frequencies go a bit weird and wobbly, I've always thought CD quality is just fine with...- dave650

iPhone 7 severe issue with MFi DACs
I'm using IPhone 7 plus 256GB iOS 10.2 with an E5 through USB and the intermittent audio cut out issue that was mentioned in this thread still persists. It's the stock music app and it actually stops playing the file rather than just the audio cutting out. Just to put a finer point on my...- dave650

Thanks, off I go to try foobar2000. I think most of my files will end up being flac 16/44.1 as well, at least these 256GB phones these days have the room to put together a decent collection of albums.- dave650

iPhone 7/7+ Compact External DAC/Amp Thread
Hello, I'm having a bit of a problem with my IPhone 7 plus plugged into the E5 via USB host. Every ten minutes or so the music just stops and I have to unplug/plug back in, or switch off the E5, to get it working again. When the music stops the player also stops so it isn't just the audio...- dave650

I'm using an iPhone 7 Plus on the latest update with one of these E5 things via USB and it bloody cuts out about every ten minutes. Have to turn the E5 off/on to get it working again. Anyone else getting this?- dave650

Creative Sound blaster E5 - Headphone amp + USB DAC with OTG + Toslink + aptX + recording + more.
I just got one of these, listened to a 24 bit ALAC of Radiohead's new one through my Eartech triple drivers, it's great, tried it on Bluetooth and through a lightning. Now I need a short U shaped lightning to USB lead. Will I be able to use this thing to rip records to my computer?- dave650

Sennheiser IE8 Impressions Thread
I'm looking for the most relevant place to ask this, butI guess any regularly visited long IE8 thread will do. Do people end up just ripping out the metal grille that covers the hole in these things? I did that to my IE7s and found they stayed cleaner, simply didn't have that grille bit to get...- dave650

Any info/reviews of the Soundblaster E3 and E1?
Sounds good, I need to learn that APTX thing and just have it set that way hopefully. I'll be buying the E3 for her, thanks for the words.- dave650

Any info/reviews of the Soundblaster E3 and E1?
Hoping noone minds that I dig this thread up. I bought a set of AKG K702 to send to my sister . She deserves a good headphone , and she's currently using a tablet out to some Bluetooth speaker for her music. So I think that the E3 might be a good pairing for somebody that isn't looking for the...- dave650

The Stax SR-507 Thread
Maybe I can put aside 2-4pm tomorrow afternoon and have a proper comparison between the two. When the record is turning I just have to quickly chuck on the other set to compare them both. nd for fum I will compare the next level down - my HD580 vs SR5. The SR5 will win in a canter, to me...- dave650

The Stax SR-507 Thread
Quote: It's hard for me to find words to describe differences. The Stax definitely have the better mids, and...not a wider soundstage, but a different soundstage. Clean guitars are much more pronounced in the 507s. The 800s have slightly more bass impact but that doesn't mean the 507s...- dave650

The Stax SR-507 Thread
Is anybody using the 507 with an older T1? That's what I have, going MC vinyl through a sorta home made preamp into the T1, and I love it! It's the best Stax I can afford! Compared to my HD800, neither sound better, just different. Different sound for a different day. Further down the...- dave650

Heed CanAmp
Got mine coming in the mail, to go with my HD580s I scored on ebay for $100AU!! Good deal, that. I definitely want to buy the K701s now. It's all getting me back into dynamics, having owned STAX for the last year (and keeping them).- dave650

What's your most expensive piece of Audio equipment (headphones or speaker)?
I think it's my Stax SR507/SRM T1 combo, followed by my phono stages. I can't remember how much I've spent on my turntable.- dave650

What's your most expensive piece of Audio equipment (headphones or speaker)?
I think the most Ive ever shelled out is $1100AU for my decidedly humble Stax SR507s And I got a broken Benz Micro PP1 preamp for 400 that got fixed by benz for 500, so all up that was 900, a good price for a new (meaning they just replaced the board with a new one) Benz Micro MC preamp. And...- dave650

yet another which amp for HD650 thread, sorry.
I had HD650s and was on a bit of a budget, so I bought the Darkvoice 336se amp, a 2007 edition, and was always happy with it, but I hadnt used too many other amps with them. I had the Grado HA1 high gain, and it was surely loud enough, but the darkvoice beat it, helping them push the bass air...- dave650

Do You Prefer the Sound of Stax Phones Using Transformers or Amps
The original question is a no brainer for me. I started my electrostat life with an old NAD receiver plugged into an SRD7 and SR5s, and it hummed and was terrible, even though I could tell the SR5s are quite good. Switch over to a T1 and better Lambdas and havent looked back.- dave650
