SONY NW-A30 SERIES
I am trying to upgrade my DAP, moving from a Fiio X3 (1st gen). I am trying to decide between the Sony NW-30 and the Cayin N3. I am mostly interested in Bluetooth/APT-X, microSD support, and a price under $200. Which would you choose? Also, what is the expected price of the A40? Thanks.- sygyzy

The Fiio X3 Thread.
I am having an issue I hope someone can help me with. On my X3, I have two tracks in an album that has the wrong tags (wrong album name). So it shows up as two albums. What I mean is say, I have: Michael Jackson - Thriller. But the last two tracks were incorrectly tagged as Dangerous album...- sygyzy

HRT Music Streamer II causing static every few hours
Hi, I have been using my HRT Music Streamer II to listen to music for a few years now. I recently changed companies and brought my setup with me to the new job. I am now using a Macbook instead of a Dell PC but everything else about the setup is the same. Macbook Pro --> USB Cable -->...- sygyzy

The Deals DISCUSSION Thread (READ THE FIRST POST!!!)
Do you guys expect the VSonic GR07 MK2's or BE (Bass Edition) will drop in price any time in the near future? They look to be hovering around $130 for quite a while now (at least a year?) and there didn't seem to be a drop for Black Friday. Should I get them or hold out? Thanks.- sygyzy

The Fiio X3 Thread.
Just picked up the Fiio X3 for $139 shipping from Adorama. I have been wanting to replace my Zune HD. To be honest, I don't listen to portable music that often but when I do, I don't want to drain the battery on my phone. This is a small-ish barrier to entry.- sygyzy

iPhone 5 Line out?
If you want line out, just use the adapter which has a built in DAC. You will get an analog signal.- sygyzy

Cheap DACs coming for iPhone 5?
It makes it easier because it's sending a digital signal out (like optical or coax digital). So you just need to plug it in to a DAC. This is even better than using a LOD which relies on on-board DAC.- sygyzy

If USB sends a digital signal, why can you change the volume at the source?
So are you guys saying that the "purest" signal you can get from a DAC is to set it at MAX volume through the source/OS/media player? And control the volume through the amp?- sygyzy

If USB sends a digital signal, why can you change the volume at the source?
I have a couple of small DAC's including a new Leckerton UHA-4. When I plug it into my computer via USB, I am able to make the music louder or softer by using the volume control in Spotify (or Windows). If it's just a signal, how is this possible? I thought a DAC just converts the digital signal...- sygyzy
