Integrated amplifier, high impedance headphone output. Resistors swapping?
OK, thank you! I already use a HP amp for my electrostatics and would like to avoid one more device in the rack. Let's see! If at least the high-Z Sennheiser HD380 sounds good through the Onkyo intergrated, I'll be satisfied. Regards!- KonstantinT

Integrated amplifier, high impedance headphone output. Resistors swapping?
Hello, I am just swapping my pre-main-amp combo for a vintage almost-TOTL Onkyo A-8650 integrated amplifier. The former NAD preamplifier has a headphone out impedance of 120 ohms, driving not only my Sennheiser HD580 (300 ohms), but even my portable close-back Sennheiser PX360 (32 ohms) and a...- KonstantinT

Stereo amp with good headphone jack
Hello, since some years I own a NAD 1155 full size preamplifier from the late 1980ies due to its good phono input (I'm a vinyl lover). Its 100 ohms headphone output drove an AKG K501 (120 ohms) satisfactorily and a Sennheiser HD580 (300 ohms) as good as a Matrix M-stage dedicated headphone amp...- KonstantinT

Old Stax HP amplifiers: SRD-X or SRA-12s ?
Hello, usually I enjoy music with an old Stax SR-X MkII electrostatic headphone powered by the SRD-X pro (normal and pro bias), a small amp getting his signal from the rec out of a NAD preamplifier. Intending an improvement for small money and looking on the second hand market I could at about...- KonstantinT

Arcam integrated amp headphones output impedance unknown. Measuring possible?
Hi, I found a schematic of the circuit. It seems there are 330 ohms resistors in line with the phones output. I will replace them with 100 or less. Konstantin- KonstantinT

Arcam integrated amp headphones output impedance unknown. Measuring possible?
Hello, being a Vinyl Enthusiast I prefer older amps with well sounding phono Inputs. Currently I own and enjoy an Arcam Delta 60 with 2x55W form the late 1980ies. My Sennheiser HD580 sounds very well out of the Arcam´s phones jack. But the AKG K500 sounds thin and bloodless. I know, like...- KonstantinT

Your digital source upgrade path?
I am still mainly a vinyl-lover.My first digital player was 1995 a Marantz CD-52 MkII SE. I decidedtobuy a Marantz after quick comparison in a shop between a CD-72 and a Denon with Alpha-Converter. The CD52 played anything (except MP3): computer-burned, scratched, copy-protected CDs. Two...- KonstantinT

Mountain Systems ?
Hello, I just saw on Ebay a headphone amp named "Mountain Systems HX-2". It seems interesting to me, because it features 3 line inputs, a "passive" and an "active" RCA output and therefore could give a complete preamplifier. Does anyone knom this brand/manufacturer? Thanks in advance!- KonstantinT

Using full sized integrated amp
Hi, DAC, I must first buy the Yamaha and then listen to it. Ok, if I get one for under 100 Euros, I will try and report. But I can compare it only to my NAD integrated (HP out from the main amp section via resistors). My phones are a Sennheiser "person": HD565 Ovation with HD580precision...- KonstantinT

Using full sized integrated amp
Hi, few days ago I decided to "tune" the phones output of my NAD 3240PE (sharing the speakers out) using almost the simplest way. Why should I accept the 220 ohms output impedance? A look on the schematics told me, that there is one 220 ohms part on each channel. So I got new, 100 ohms metal...- KonstantinT

Using full sized integrated amp
Scompton, first, I thank you for giving me advise again. About the phones jack impedance of your 3155: 470 Ohms are high indeed. Does "470 Ohms" stay on the schematics? Else, the number 470 could be only a part number, not the Ohms value. I found the schematics of the 3240PE (my NAD amp)...- KonstantinT

Using full sized integrated amp
Hi! Did anyone power high impedance headphones by a (vintage or modern) NAD preamplifier? I´m confused with the impedance matching and mismathing. I own a 20 years old NAD 3240PE integrated (speaker) amp with the well-known handicap: the phones out has a high impedance (220 Ohms). My...- KonstantinT
