CanJam New York 2024 Impressions Thread (March 9-10, 2024)
I spent most time listening to portable gear. The most surprising was the Campfire Trifecta. I was almost sure I would leave with it but I listened to the VE10 beforehand and it left enough of an impression that I went back for more and left with that instead. Trifecta had a lot of impact and...- hop ham

Dunu Mirai - A Collaboration between Headphones.com, Dunu and Precogvision
Very initial thoughts. Crimson can get intense for me sometimes, being very dynamic and the way the bass anchors everything else creating a unique sense of space and depth. Mirai seems more in line with what I’m more used to and what I probably expected, in a good way. I have U12t and was...- hop ham

Dunu Mirai - A Collaboration between Headphones.com, Dunu and Precogvision
Only a few hours on these but I’m not disspointed so far. I was slightly concerned about comfort and fit before buying but IEM/cable/tips work together to be very comfortable for me (I do have issues with large nozzles and shells that are both large and heavy). Polite but engaging and good...- hop ham

The PENON official thread
I misinterpreted what you were asking. I see what you want to know now and makes sense. I’m traveling but after I get back and spend more time with the Impact I’ll swap cables. You could be right. I have some cables and if I come to any conclusions I’ll share. Still want to give the Impact more...- hop ham

The PENON official thread
I just got the Impact a few days ago and owned Bird for a long time so these are early thoughts I can update after more time. I need to get used to the Impact and burn-in can change things. Mids are more forward. Vocals sound great on both but Bird has a touch of classy sweetness that Impact...- hop ham

Ferrum OOR - headphone amplifier with a soul ?
On my second day with the Erco/Hypsos stack. Still figuring it out but I like what I hear so far. I got this for standalone use on my desk for headphones and IEMs (4.4mm jack is appreciated for IEMs) but for fun might feed it with other DACs after I get itchy. I’ve heard OOR at Canjam NYC but...- hop ham

Audeze LCD-5 Review, Measurements, Interview
After a week with LCD-5, I really like them. There is an issue with the finishing on one of the cups which I was disappointed with but the fit is good. LCD-3 will stay for that “old” addictive Audeze weighty creamy sound. Still need to try LCD-5 on other amps. Most of my time has been using...- hop ham

Oriolus Traillii Electrostatic Hybrid IEM discussion thread
I've had these for over a month and I'm still sticking these in my ear everyday with a smile. I've mostly been using Dethonray Honey H1, Hugo 1, Fiio M15, iFi Pro iDSD. For fun I tried it briefly with Mscaler/Dave. They all sound good but I'm finding myself reaching for Honey most of the time...- hop ham

DUNU LUNA - Impressions and Discussion
I tried Spinfits and Spiral Dots so far. Ordered the SednaEarfit Light Short as recommended by ranfan and others. I got the Luna a week ago - burning in constantly and have been listening to them a lot because we're stuck inside. I really like the signature.- hop ham

DUNU LUNA - Impressions and Discussion
Bass seems to be discussed a lot. I think there is a forceful weight behind the bass…its very capable and enjoyable. Not overbearing but has good impact. It's a deep (rumbly when it needs to), fast anchor. It doesn't get in the way but is always there to the degree it needs to be. The Legend X...- hop ham

Verum Audio - Exciting high performance DIY planar
A few weeks ago I got my Verums with one channel way way louder than the other. I contacted Garuspik and he offered free leather pads so I decided not to ask about return shipping. Went to USPS and paid about $25 to ship back. Waited about 3-4 weeks and got it back yesterday. Only did a quick...- hop ham

JH Audio Lola Impressions and Discussions
I understand what you mean about Phantom being dry. Last years NYC CanJam I tried the Legend next to Phantom for hours and strongly preferred the Legend and my Zeus. Phantom even seemed muffled. A little later I was able to spend much more time with the universal Phantoms and the dryness...- hop ham

JH Audio Lola Impressions and Discussions
I don't own any 64 Audio products but have heard them several times and CanJams. I do own EE Legend X and Phantom, Shure KSE, along with Lola...with the EEs being custom. My overall favorite is Phantom but I still really enjoy the Lola for it's vocal quality, smoothness, and analog-y type...- hop ham

ZMF Verite Open
Mine has been burning in for a few days, though I have listened to them for a few hours. Sounds good so far but still changing. Bummed that Fedex opened mine up and tampered with them. They came a few days late because the "barcode label was unreadable and replaced" so they decided to open...- hop ham

Who knows. I don't agree with much of what he says about other gear. I think contrasting reviews/impressions can be helpful...and plus much of us are waiting for our pre-orders to ship so this gives us something else to look at in the meantime.- hop ham

Final Audio D8000 Planar Magnetic Headphone
The best synergy for me is with Phonitor X, usually with matrix feature engaged. I own GSXmk2 and heard V281 a few times. The GSXmk2 is a beast with more power than Phonitor but seems to add a bit of aggressiveness to the upper mids/treble that I don't prefer. But it grips the bass by the...- hop ham

Final Audio D8000 Planar Magnetic Headphone
Great post buffer. A lot of good info that I agree with. There is a bloom in the midbass that can become intrusive, either based on the music/gear pairing or subjective preference. This also makes it more enjoyable/lively for some, especially with certain types of music like rock where D8000...- hop ham

Final Audio D8000 Planar Magnetic Headphone
I think the bass changes most through burn in, taming down and getting a bit tighter. It was looser, fuzzier, bouncier, rounder out of the origami box. But I agree, if there is one flaw with the sound of this headphone it's that the midbass is a bit elevated and can become a little distracting...- hop ham
