MICROZOTL2 Tube Headphone Amp and preamp: a breakthrough device
willsw, i've always loved the original MicroZolt - ever since i heard one (a red version) more than 10 years ago. We lovingly called it the toaster ;-). I've pulled the trigger on the Massdrop version MZ 2S. One question about the power supply - i live in Singapore 230 volts 50hz. Shouldn't be...- Rameish

The Fiio X3 Thread.
Mediafire is the link from fiio's website. So I don't understand why I was getting the issues. Now i do - if you connect your X# to your computer (mac) it won't download. You'll need to remove the MicroSD card put it into an adapter then it works fine otherwise you keep getting repeatedly a...- Rameish

Valhalla 2 review coming soon!
I said in half jest. But dealers in sg sell at a reasonably marked up price from what you see advertised at schiit. About US$90 for the lower end units. So hopefully if you buy to units you might get the mark up reduced at bit - hopefully. Nobody likes to pay more in life but such is life and...- Rameish

Valhalla 2 review coming soon!
I gave the Valhalla a listen this evening and it's looking good. I just need to bring my transport to the dealer to listen to the bifrost and Valhalla sometime next week. Might end up buying both. Hope they can give me a nicer price. Kekeke hope runs eternal right. Frankly even at the sg prices...- Rameish

Is Schiit Customer Service Schiit?
As far as distributors are concerned they usually need a 40 to 50% margin to make a living. They need this because they have to take care of warranty issues, rent and labour. It's quite different buying from a manufacturer direct and buying from a distributor through its dealers. Each dealer has...- Rameish

Valhalla 2 review coming soon!
So does this mean it won't damage the headphones over time? Could someone confirm or refute this? Please. I mean there are a lot of tech minded people here like tangent, morsel etc I mean the guys who designed the PPA should be able to confirm or refute this. Is Kurt W still active here. Sorry...- Rameish

Valhalla 2 review coming soon!
Is this true? Why wouldn't they do that? I had thought they has implemented this even before the 2nd version of Asgard was released and offered to fix the problem on older units of Asgard. Well let's just wait and see if they respond before pulling the trigger. Damn ...I'm gonna wait a couple of...- Rameish

I broke my Schiit Magni! Need some help.
How can the amp be awful based on what you said? How can the amp be awful based on what you've just said. Be reasonable, you plugged in a wrong dc power cord for crying out loud.- Rameish

What improvements are there sonically over the V1 Valhalla? Also would it help if you unplugged the headphones before switching the amp off? Specifically for the Valhalla.- Rameish

Classifying versions of the RS1: Your Guide (Work in Progress)
There's also a late version of Grado RS1i with red drivers (as seen from the metal grill) and which comes with a thicker cable with 1/8 inch jack in a much larger housing. Just pre Grado RS1e - I suspect these are actually Grado RS1e in RS-1 paper box.- Rameish

Beyer DT-311
Yeah crappy headband and the drivers sit on top of your ears. It's a basic hi-fi can like the SR-60/SR-80 although I prefer both the Grados to it. If you dont compare the DT-311 with either is brethern or it's american cousins :-) you will not be dissapointed with the DT-311.- Rameish

Grew Up With & Hate Vinyl Why Don't You!
Yeah socrates I was fortunate in that not too many of my records were thrown out back in those days when CDs were new. Main reasons? 1) CD Players were expensive and 2) CDs were expensive! That saved me. I didn have any money ( as you can imagine) and my dad had already bought me a system in...- Rameish

Grew Up With & Hate Vinyl Why Don't You!
Wow...I too had a Thorens TD280 (cant remember which Mk it was). I liked the semi-auto feature where the arm automatically lifts off the vinyl at the end. I personally felt it was better sounding then the Rega Plannar 2 ;-) Yeah Dual I had too but an earlier model of the CD505 (I think) I...- Rameish

RCD-855 as a transport?
The Rotel RCD-855 is a good machine if the transport side is still working and in good shape. The lens mech is the CDM4-19 swing arm - pretty good. But what makes this CDP really worthwhile is the fact that it uses the TDA-1541A chip! This is the famous chip that is used in several NOS (non...- Rameish

Grew Up With & Hate Vinyl Why Don't You!
What a pity. It's a great tt (for it's price). CEC made all sorts of things for others like SME (power supply). Yes that power supply is the same one on the older SME. Well there's always a new VPI - I like the Super Scoutmaster. In fact I'm thinking hard about it.- Rameish

Grew Up With & Hate Vinyl Why Don't You!
Greetings Manfred! Yeah I'm back. Actually I've been around - in lurk mode LOL. Yeah the CEC-ST 930 is a very nice turntable. The original arm is a japanese sourced "audioquest" PT-6 or 7 or 8 (audioquest supplied different cables and gave them different model numbers). This arm is also...- Rameish

Grew Up With & Hate Vinyl Why Don't You!
From my experience, LPs are a lot more robust. Sure they are somewhat easier to damage then say CDs but if you set-up your turntable properly then the life span of your record should last a lifetime even if you play the same record once every two days. I have some old beatles LPs from the 60s...- Rameish

Grew Up With & Hate Vinyl Why Don't You!
Gives you better sound for the $. A few year back I purchased the very nice Copland CDA-289. I made several comparisons with toher CDPs before I bought it. Bringing it back home it didnt hold a candle to my CEC ST930 turntable with Grado Platinum cartridge. Plus a turntable allows you to tweak...- Rameish
