LCD-X and XC Update
Thanks @Jonne Haven @albertmuc and @Kentajalli (once again)! Ok, that's sealed it for me, I'm getting the LCD-XC to compliment my LCD-X, for when I need minimal sound leakage. I'm open to EQing, and I've used it sparingly with the LCD-X. But I find it sounds equally great without EQ...- mancpg

LCD-X and XC Update
Wow thanks @Kentajalli and @Kevintj604 for the detailed replies. I love my LCD-X and think they’re perfect. I didn’t know the lack of back pressure was what contributed to their warmth. Makes sense and makes sense that the closed LCD-XC would be perceived as brighter. I don’t mind the weight...- mancpg

LCD-X and XC Update
When some people on this thread say they prefer the LCD-XC 2021 to the LCD-X 2022, what do they prefer about them? I’ve had my LCD-X 2021 for a couple of years and am thinking about adding a pair of closed backs. Wondering if there are any improvements to be expected with the XCs. Thanks!- mancpg

Sabaj A20d 2022 Version ES9038Pro DAC
Just picked this DAC/amp up to use with the LCD-X 2021 and wow. I think I read a review somewhere that said something like you get texture from voices and instruments on the A20d, and that was 100% correct. Also, on busy passages, it does a great job of staying composed. It’s easier to pick out...- mancpg

LCD-X and XC Update
I’m writing this to show some love for the JDS Labs Element III DAC/Amp with the LCD-X 2021. I can comfortably say that it makes one of the finest combinations I’ve ever heard. This coming from having owned the Hugo 2, the RME ADI-2, the iFi Diablo and a Burson amp (can’t remember which). The...- mancpg

Astell&Kern Launches KANN ALPHA Digital Audio Player
Thanks for this, it’s super helpful. I’m using the OG Kann with the new SR325x and I’m like Homer Simpson drooling when I listen to it. Was just wondering what the Alpha might add but maybe the warm OG with the 325x is a better pairing?- mancpg

Astell&Kern Launches KANN ALPHA Digital Audio Player
Hi everyone, sorry to interrupt. I have and love the original Kann and I was wondering if the KA is worth the upgrade? I’ve tried searching this thread for ‘original’ and Mk1, etc but couldn’t find any comparisons. Sorry if this has been covered earlier in the thread. I’d be grateful for...- mancpg

Chord 2Go & 2Yu Wired/Wireless Network streamer and S/PDIF adaptor - Official thread
Wow, thanks for the quick and helpful reply! That’s really good to know. I’ve gotten a sense that the 2Go experiences ‘technical difficulties’ and have been wondering if it would be worth investing in it. I would be using it with an SD card mostly, but from the posts above I guess I would have...- mancpg

Chord 2Go & 2Yu Wired/Wireless Network streamer and S/PDIF adaptor - Official thread
Hi, Long time listener, first time caller here. Don’t mean to hijack the thread but couldn’t seem to find the answer to this through a search. Does the 2Go have make an appreciable difference to SQ over a good USB cable from a good source such as an iPad or a DAP? Or is its appeal the...- mancpg

iFi audio iDSD Diablo - A portable reference done our way!
Sorry if I've missed something but when I type in the serial number of my Diablo on the iFi website, all I get back is the 7.0 - MQA and 7.0c GTO firmwares, not any of the 7.2 firmwares. Am I doing something wrong?- mancpg

LCD-X and XC Update
I’ve compared the two as well (I own the 2020) and I think there are a lot of pluses for the 2021. But the 2020 seems to have a bit more pace than the 2021, which sounds a bit ‘slower’ or ‘relaxed’ to me. Or maybe that’s just perception owing to the 2020’s more impactful bass?- mancpg

iFi audio iDSD Diablo - A portable reference done our way!
I can only speak for the pairing of the Diablo and the LCD-X, and it’s magical to me. Very layered, textured, musical presentation overall with plenty of depth in the lower registers and great mid/treble clarity without being harsh. I’m using an excellent balanced cable from Scan in the UK...- mancpg

iFi audio iDSD Diablo - A portable reference done our way!
I‘ve had the Chord Hugo 2 and I prefer the Diablo with the LCD-X, comparing them side-by-side. They’re both excellent but the Diablo sounds richer, fuller and digs deeper on the bass. I can also hear more micro details with the Diablo. On the high res version of Van Halen’s 1984, for instance...- mancpg

iFi audio iDSD Diablo - A portable reference done our way!
I think I’ve partially figured out what’s going on with my Diablo and the LED colours. I decided I’d install the 7.0 Cookies and Cream firmware, and overwrite the 7.0 GTO that I installed previously. i did this because I seemed to remember installing a newish firmware when I received my Diablo...- mancpg

iFi audio iDSD Diablo - A portable reference done our way!
I don’t have a record of the firmware, but I received my Diablo on March 20, and the first thing I did was check for a new firmware on the iFi website. I entered my serial number and a firmware download appeared — I don’t recall the version number but I do remember that there was only one...- mancpg

iFi audio iDSD Diablo - A portable reference done our way!
I have a related question, if that’s ok. I’ve just upgraded the firmware to 7c and the LED stays white all the time. My previous firmware apparently had GTO but the LED was always yellow. Does anyone know if the all white all the time LED indicates GTO or not (or if something got messed up)? Thanks!- mancpg

Reveal Plugins - DSP for Audeze Headphones.
The high quality linear filter sounds amazing with my LCD-X. I’m using Audirvana and a Chord Hugo 2. The imaging is excellent and my reference track - My Narrow Man by Gwyneth Herbert - sounds almost ‘holographic’. Thanks for the software update...- mancpg

Introducing the LCD-i3
Sorry to jump in here, but I was wondering if anyone’s compared the lcdi3s to any full sized Audeze headphones. Which full-sized are they most like? I’ve had the i3s for about a month now and I’m astonished by them.- mancpg

Beyerdynamic DT 1990 PRO - Beyer's open-back mastering headphone
Another option to smooth out the treble on the DT 1990 is by using a different cable. I had a cable made from Mogami 2549 and it’s made them sound more linear with more midrange clarity. Mogami 2534 are even more tubey sounding (the favourite of my local hifi shop) as they have a noticeable...- mancpg

Beyerdynamic DT 1990 PRO - Beyer's open-back mastering headphone
Hi, I've had the DT1990 Pros for a few months now and I'm really amazed by them. Just a little history -- my favourite headphones of all time were their predecessor's predecessor, the DT931 (which was replaced by the DT990, as I was told by Beyer). The 1990s take what I recall of the DT931s...- mancpg

Grado GS1000 GS-1000 GS1 GS1K [ Official Customer Satisfaction/ Appreciation Thread ]
I like all the appreciation the GS1Ke's are getting over here. I had a chance to hear a pair and I'm thinking about them. I'm wondering if anyone has tried the "L" cush pads on them? I know it sounds like going backwards but I also wonder if they'd keep their sound signature and sound like...- mancpg

Can a DAP exceed it's max rated power output?
Got it, that's a great explanation! Yes, the reported 2Vrms is at 1% distortion. What does 1% distortion sound like? would you know it if you hear it? Thanks again!- mancpg
