    The 6SN7 Identification Guide

Yes, that looks like the Bad Boy. The "fuzziness" you see up top is deposited evaporated metal from the cathode heater element - similar to how water will condense on a cool window next to a boiling kettle. It doesn't affect tube functionality, but is an indication that the tube has been used...

    The 6SN7 Identification Guide

I came out of retirement to say that unless a 6n7 is specified by your amp manufacturer as a drop in replacement for a 6sn7 (highly unlikely), it is NOT compatible. It's operating characteristics are different, and as mentioned above it's pin configuration is different..

    Audeze LCD-X

The LCD-X has - when compared to the LCD-2 - more airy highs, more midbass, more clarity, and much much much less congestion, which in turns explains the much better/wider soundstaging.   I like it.

    Sennheiser MOMENTUM Review

Come on, that cable ad is BS - seriously who needs the last 0.000001% that cables may or may not provide for portable listening out of an unamped device listening to lossy files?   And while we're on about BS - WTH is "super nylon"??   Oh wait, it's just nylon, but now with a 5000% upcharge.

    Sennheiser MOMENTUM Review

My inline remote cable sounds fine.   Come on guys, a little bit of perspective and common sense - chances are you won't get a broken cable, even if there is one very vocal poster here who keeps going on and on and on about his broken cable...   The exception is just that - an exception.

    Sennheiser MOMENTUM Review

There is no way on God's green earth that the Momentum sounds "like" the HD800 - they are completely different, chalk and cheese, summer and winter, black and white, etc.    The HD800's strengths are its imaging and detail retrieval. It has a piercing treble to some, me included. The...

Do I need a standalone sound card?

Hi all, have a few quick questions that have been bugging me...   This is my current setup: computer > FLAC + foobar2k + WASAPI (event) > Realtek digital output (Realtek ALC892 Audio Codec) > TOSLINK > Schiit Gungnir (balanced) > Schiit Mjolnir (balanced) > LCD-3 (balanced)   1. If I...

    Sennheiser MOMENTUM Review

Just picked up a pair today - am pretty amazed that they do bass better than much more expensive headphones. They are a pretty much perfect for portable non public transport use imo.

Schiit DACs (Bifrost and Gungnir down, one to go)? The information and anticipation thread.

Quote:   I'm not in Melbourne and have no plans to go there, so for all intents and purposes I might as well be in a different country. And what about the NZ customers?    Really, what is the benefit here, except for the ability to audition for Melbourne based folk and those willing...

Schiit DACs (Bifrost and Gungnir down, one to go)? The information and anticipation thread.

Just want to mention that I am pretty pissed that Schiit basically threw its Australia/New Zealand customers under a bus by striking an exclusive deal with a local distributor - i.e. we cannot order direct from Schiit anymore, and must go through this distributor.   Which added absolutely...

Anyone tried the Schiit Lyr with the Thunderpants?

Hi all,    Haven't been around in ages. Recognise a few familiar usernames here and there, but it's been some time.    I've decided to resurrect my headphone fetish with a pair of Thunderpants. Buying blind FTW!!   Am considering pairing this with a Lyr - any comments on how this...

Thank you ssportclay and memepool for your replies. ssportclay, you may be right - the TD126 I tried out was indeed a mkIII, and had serious issues with speed stability. Perhaps the fascia did not appeal to me, but my experience with it was anything but positive. Actually, come to think...

    Help for a vinyl n00b

SweetAdeline, You might want to read this article. I feel it summarises nicely the strengths of the various Thorens models. http://www.stefanopasini.it/images/Thor1215.pdf AFAIK, the TD126 is often considered next to the TD125 - but I think it's actually a bit lower in overall quality...
