Pad it using a few layers of tissue then use pliers, be careful to pull out in only one direction and do not rock sideways, because that may cause damage. That's what I did.

I've had this experience, even with a used tube. One of my 6AS7's has a very strong hiss on the left channel that has to do with the way the tube is plugged in, when I carefully 'roll' it a little bit to one side, the noise totally disappears.

I think Karajan conducting Pictures at an Exhibition, La Mer, and Bolero is another great album to start. It brings together three classics and has lush orchestra sound.

I'm going to recommend something that has the typical classical appeal but not heard often other than by those that listen to classical: Beethoven's 3rd and 4th Piano Concertos, they are great works but not played all over the radio like 'The Emporer' 5th, and are just as good.
