Zero Audio - ZH-DX200 Carbo Tenore | ZH-DX210 Carbo Basso (Carbon & Aluminium IEM) thread

Just got my Tenores too! First impressions: they look amazing, I like that they're so small. Versus the Ostry KC06: Much better looking (for me) although build quality is good on both. They isolate much better, maybe they're a bit less comfortable and driver flex is annoying. Sound wise...

Chinese / Asian Brand Info Thread (Headphones, IEMs, Amps, DACs)

Just a heads up (might work for other people too), I added the ED3 to my basket yesterday and then decided I don't need another pair of headphones - Aliexpress emailed me today with a price drop to $20 shipped so I went for it. Dammit Head-Fi! I really don't need them, will give them as a...

Speaker gurus: Where to start researching everything 'speaker'?

If you're considering vintage equipment (and you should) Audiokarma is an amazing forum, pay them a visit.

Can you recommend a speaker for <$700 that doesn't sound terrible?

Do you have an amplifier already? If not, what's your amplifier budget? Especially since it's a temporary speaker, you should look into vintage high-end systems in your area. You can listen to them before you buy and with a bit of patience you can find amazing sounding stuff in your budget.

£150 (GBP) to spend on gear.... help me put together a rig?

Not sure how helpful this is as an answer but I really think you should spend part of your budget to get new IEMs, are you considering this? Also, what is your phone? Maybe you can use that as a source and get a dac and / or amp for it.

    hd25-1 impressions thread

Sorry, was actually commenting on the £59 CustomCans cable - yeah if I don't find anything used or DIY I'll either go with a hd600 cable or possibly this one...

Can anyone recommend a nice but not too expensive copper cable for purchase in the UK?

    Spotify Rig

The Microstreamer works with a lot of Android phones too, including the Note 2, not sure about the original Note though. I think it's supposed to be a lot better than the Headstreamer. No, you wouldn't need a better source, I'm just mentioning getting a better source as an alternative option :)

    Spotify Rig

320kbps should be enough for it to sound good. You could get a portable dac / amp that works with the Note - HRT Microstreamer might be an option, don't know if it works with the Note though. Way cheaper than your £500 limit. You could also get a good source with either Android or iOS for less...

    Senheiser HD 25 varients

The BE stands for "Basic Edition" and doesn't include any accessories (no bag, no velour pads, I think no adapter). (edit, Eric_C was quicker :P) The 600-ohm variant is HD-25-13: http://www.thomann.de/gb/sennheiser_hd2513_ii.htm There are also other variants of the 70-ohm HD-25 but with...

Trying to pull together a nice 2 channel computer setup for under $600, please assist in my decision.

Are you considering to buy used? When you say "computer setup", do you mean only that you will have your computer as your source or will the speakers necessarily be nearfield, on either side of the desk where you're going to be sitting?

Budget Speakers for a University Student

You can also try to find something local here: http://www.canuckaudiomart.com/ Buying vintage gives you a lot of sound for your money, especially if you're a little patient and wait for a good deal to show up. Craigslist works as well I guess.

Portable Lossless player with digital output?

Maybe use an Android device with a USB to SPDIF coax converter? Or even HDMI to coax.   Edit: there's this thread on a car forum on how to get coax digital out from a tablet.

Help me listen to vinyls again :)

Listen to your friend and definitely consider getting the SL-1210 if you can find one within your budget (you probably can). You'll keep it for years and you can spend any future turntable-budget upgrading the cartridge and / or arm.

    Music Server Solution?

+1 for a Squeezebox server, it does exactly what you're looking for except that the server & player are not the same device.

Where does the iPod 5G rank in 2012?

Quote: Ah, my bad, I misread. It's not as clear which one to keep then - probably the 60gb, depends on how bad the condition of the 30gb is.

Where does the iPod 5G rank in 2012?

So do this without questioning it. Do you plan to use your player in the gym or for running? If yes, get rid of both iPods and get a Clip+ or a Clip Zip with a 32gb card. Rockbox it. If not, get rid of the 60gb iPod and keep the 30gb 5.5gen one. It's slimmer, newer and in better condition...

this may be an odd question, but -- best player for large-scale shuffling?

Why can you only shuffle on your computer? What player do you have problems with? I've tried shuffling 100+ gb of music on an iPod classic (both Rockboxed and stock) and it works fine. I think that a Clip+ would work well too, if no-one that uses a Clip responds within a couple of days I'll...

    Upgrade to Hisoundaudio Rocoo P?

I wouldn't suggest you to try the RoCoo P - I haven't heard the X1060 but I suspect that the SQ of the RoCoo is not any better, especially since you like your music bassy. The RoCoo's interface is certainly worse so this doesn't help either. Just stick with your player and spend the 250 euros...

Best ~£150 setup including speakers, DAC & amp?

Glad to see that you like the DM601s, they're fantastic for the price. Even if you don't really like the Tripath amp I wouldn't worry about it, it's really really cheap and you learned something out of it. Don't bother with replacing the UCA202 for now. Be on the lookout for cheap vintage...
