Am I hearing things? Help me avoid a potentially unecessary return...

I recently purchased a set of the Sennheiser 630vb with the rotary bass dial. I really like them but sometimes I feel like the amount of bass they produce varies...without me touching the dial. They always sound good but occasionally after listening for a little while the sound seems to take on...

Maybe I don't like IEMS? please read and tell me if it makes no sense to try any more of them...

Ok so a few years ago I was into iems. I started with the shure e4c which I loved, and were my first experience with good transducers...until the cable broke. After that I picked up a less expensive but well regarded (at the time) pair...the klipsch s4... and enjoyed them. Than I went on a bit...

    The JVC HA-S500 thread.

So I just finally sprang for a set of these. It is really ironic because around the time these came out in Japan I was actually over there. I was riding my bike around with a friend and we stopped to look at cameras. I saw a big bin of these phones for the equivalent of $40 a piece and when I...

    The JVC HA-S500 thread.

Sorry, I am sure this has been asked elsewhere, but the thread is really long and it's just a quick question...   do these isolate well enough for, say, a public bus?   Thanks, Matt

    LCD-2 rev 1 or HE-500/400

Sorry, slight change to my original post (which sadly got no answers)   I am between these three phones, mostly for electronic music (rev 2 is outside my budget)   any input is greatly appreciated...as a reference I have owned markl modded d5000's which I quite liked and really enjoyed...

    LCD-2 rev.1 or HE-400 for edm?

Hi guys,   I would like to say in advance that your help is greatly appreciated!   I listen a ton of edm and am interested in getting one of these phones. Most of my music collection is high bitrate mp3s and I do spend some time listening to DI Radio, Pandora, etc straight through the...

Major dissapointment with new AKG phones

I'm not a very dramatic person but I am really, really upset about this. I spent about 4 hours in Yodobashi camera in Japan testing many, many pairs of headphones with my preferred player and music. Eventually I found a set that really suited me. I am sure they are not everyone's cup of...

To those who have experience with the ath-m50 and ah-d7000...

I am a huge fan of the m50, and as much praise as they get I think that they are marginalized a bit by the high end folks because of their low price. I am strongly considering the ah-d7000...but I would like to hear some opinions regarding how much of an improvement they are over the m50 to...

Proof that the average consumer can't tell the difference

I said it is considered the best, not that it is. The j3 (an updated s9) has garnered plenty of praise for sq and I am pretty certain for everyone that says it isn't good there would be someone who says it is. I feel it was a viable player to use for my testing.

Proof that the average consumer can't tell the difference

a cowon j3 was used, considered to have the best audio quality of any mp3 player At this point most of what I would say has been repeated ad nauseum on these forums and would serve only to waste the time of those who read it, so I will simply say that everything I have read and observed has led...

Proof that the average consumer can't tell the difference

I don't mean to be rude here, but have you ever engaged in blind tests pitting FLAC against high bit-rate mp3s or different headphone amps? any empirical evidence anywhere that it isn't just psychoacoustics?

Proof that the average consumer can't tell the difference

This has more to do with what was going on a couple of pages back, but anyway I got the chance to test drive a bunch of headphones last weekend...among them were the hd800, hd650, hd600, Ultrasone edition 8, audio technica ath-w5000, Alessandro MS2, AKG-K702.... all were listened to with...

Proof that the average consumer can't tell the difference

yes the thread should have stopped with Kermac's enlightened post...but just to add a bit...   I used to be into (x) When this particular hobby area was just in it's beginning stages there were just a handful of manufacturers and the prices rarely exceeded several hundred dollars for a...

Proof that the average consumer can't tell the difference

incidentally, if in some bizarre universe the ed8's were heavily supported and the average consumer was aware of them and their price of $1400 (much the same way as people are of Beats and their price, or for a better example, designer clothes) you would most likely see them here and there...

Is there something wrong with my ATH-M50's? owners please chime in...

hey soundeffect   do you play them loud enough so that alot of people would think they are uncomfortably loud, and the bass is still fine?   if the answer is yes, I prolly have a defective set

Proof that the average consumer can't tell the difference

I personally find it interesting that the audiophile community will regularly lament the average consumer spending money on the likes of Monster Cable, Bose, Skull Candy, et al because of things like marketing, perception-reality, hearsay, and group pressure without stopping to consider the...

Is there something wrong with my ATH-M50's? owners please chime in...

Hey guys,   I have a pair of the ATH-M50's which I love, however the drivers seem to get easily overwhelmed by too much bass and start to distort. My work computer has a good soundcard built in, and even when the EQ is flat once the volume starts reaching 'loud' territory the bass distorts...

opinion: any point to high end iems with mp3 music?

Ok so I am not an audiophile...small improvements in this area or that area do not do it for me...and when I spend significantly more money on a product, I am looking for a wholly improved product with clear and consistent benefits over a less expensive one. I say this because I am well aware of...

Should I go JVC HA-FX700 or Earsonics SM3?

*whoops....mods please move this one to the appropriate forum...   A little background...I started my foray into iems with the Shure e4c which I loved, the cable shorted 2 years later and due to financial constraints I replaced them with Klipsch S4 which were ok but seemed to have a lower...

Substantial improvement from Klipsch S4's sought...Monster copper did not work...please help

Sorry I should have been more specific. I typically listen to high bitrate mp3's off of an older Iriver Clix, while sometimes listening to CD quality files or actual CDs through my laptop. So yes, I do not listen off particularly high quality sources.   I guess what I was looking for is a...

Substantial improvement from Klipsch S4's sought...Monster copper did not work...please help

Hey All,   For a long while I owned a set of Shure E4c's which I used for years and really loved. Unfortunately one of the wires developed a short and I had to replace them. I had been reading very good things about the Klipsch S4 and picked those up. While I was quite impressed with them, I...

e500's- worth the upgrade from e4c?

Hi, First post here... I searched but haven't found the answer to this question in older posts so I guess I'll ask... I am currently using a pair of shure e4c's that I am quite happy with- but the thing is I really do spend alot of time with my canal phones and considering this I would...
