Vintage Columbia Speakers & Tube Amp!? What is this???
I found an audio-visual guy to do an inspection on the thing, and unfortunately one of the transformers was out so it wasn't worth repairing. Luckily though, I decided to test out the speakers to see if they were garbage by stripping the wires and plugging them into a klipsch amp I had... -
Vintage Columbia Speakers & Tube Amp!? What is this???
Hey guys thanks for the input so far. You all are are correct - it is a stereo amp. I'm sorry I didn't take a picture of the full unit, there is an additional speaker on the left side (left channel). If I can fix this up for $50 and have a good tube amp and speakers I will definitely bite. I am... -
Vintage Columbia Speakers & Tube Amp!? What is this???
Hey Stitch. Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately the thing doesn't work and I don't know anything about the system, so I'm trying to figure out whether it's something awesome that I should invest my time repairing. But as of now I'm just waiting for some feedback. -
Vintage Columbia Speakers & Tube Amp!? What is this???
Hey guys, I live in Baltimore so people throw cool stuff away all the time, so recently I came across this old beautiful Columbia Speaker Cabinet made out of this dark hardwood and a tube amp inside. Unfortunately, I can't find any information about this thing except that it was probably made in...- Jesse Peters

Simple Minds. How do the remasters sound against the originals?
IMHO, there is a reason why MFSL costs so much. Or at least I would hope so :-/.- Jesse Peters

For IEMs I would suggest you pick up a pair of UE-10 Pros and for cans I'd suggest RS-1's with a Hornet.- Jesse Peters

Headphones for a Mid/high lover?
The most amazing highs I've ever heard come from a pair of Etymotic ER4P/S. Extreme detail and will give you the lows and mids too.- Jesse Peters

Woody/Racabled SR225 or stock RS-1?
The RS-1 drivers are RS-1 drivers, the 225 225 drivers. Cabling will make a negligible difference. I'd suggest springing for a used pair of RS-1's.- Jesse Peters

Grado RS-1 unamped
It is not necessary for the RS-1's to be amped, but you will get more out of them if you do. It's like putting regular grade gasoline into a turbo'd car.- Jesse Peters

Grado RS-1 vs 325i - should I?
If this is a headphone you'll keep for the rest of your life, go with the RS-1's. In the decision, go for a pair of used RS-1's.- Jesse Peters

Fellow Newbs, tell me about your wallet!
I can honestly say that I have a problem. At first, it was Sony MDR's at 80 - boy what a big purchase. Then a huge purchase at 220 for etys. Then! the RS-1's at 700. Now as the etys and RS-1's are being sold, the 950+ UE-10 Pros are being had. I am mad, but in a mad world, only the mad are sane...- Jesse Peters

SR325i: Should I upgrade them while I still can?
My suitemate had a pair of 325i's we contrasted with my RS-1's. The 325i's are very musical and it's good for getting into the music but at times it can be fatiguing. My suitemate was dissapointed in the lack of bass extension and on some songs, the placement of the instruments. I would highly...- Jesse Peters
