Today I bought a pair of Phillips HS490 headphones. These are like a clip type of headphone but the phones actually hang on your ears. Light and comfortable. These are open circumaural type. For the $10 I paid new, I thought what the hell if they sound bad I won't be too disappointed. Well...- valveman

I'm now experimenting with a paper type diaphram. Not really paper but thin organic kind of diaphram. I think this will be more rigid and easier to mold. Stay tuned- valveman

Behringer 602 as a Headphone Amp?
I have been asking myself this question and cannot think of a reason why I would spend lots of money on a headphone amp when I can use the Behringer 602 mixer as a high end headphone amp. The specs are impressive. I own this model and works great as a heaphone amp. Very quiet, has lots of...- valveman

I am now making a diaphram using the pressure method. I have a positive mold in the shape of the diaphram I want. Next I use a piece of stiff foam rubber and a vise. The vise will apply presure and the foam will help to mold the material into the shape of the diaphram. Pictures soon.- valveman

Advice on amp for K701
I have K701 headphones and although I need to crank the volume to nearly 3/4 on my ipod, i find that drives them well. Therefore I'm guessing you want the amp so you can set the volume on your player much lower to prevent any distortion caused at higher volumes?- valveman

Designing my own Headphones
Yes the mass was a consideration but if you increase the size of the voice coil and/or the magnet (Nyodimium) and generate a larger magnetic field, the extra mass should not be a problem. The reason I'm considering this is to prevent the ripple effect that occurs in membrane type transducers. If...- valveman

JVC Marshmallows V2 are here! Introducing the JVC HA-FX66!
Another pair of earphones to consider are the lesser known iSecureFit MK-650 earphones. I bought a pair at Walmart for $20 and am amazed. They really do sound better than my Shure110E and Sennheiser CX300 earphones. Great Bass Mids and highs. For $20 they are worth a try.- valveman
