The Official Cigar Thread
There are so many great cigars legally obtained that I have found no need to use sites like Cuban Cigars to obtain them. I am quite pleased with Oliva Serie V torpedos, Rocky Patel Decade and Camacho 1962s on the less expensive side and Padron 1964 and 1926, Fuente God Of Fire on the more...- dmk005

The Ultrasone million dollar question
It's hard to enjoy other cans (save Sony R-10s) the others sound flat in comparison. Fit issues make them less than perfect but they are close to perfect sounding for rock/ambient/alternative. Of course some very experienced head-fiers may hear differently. I think it is because the Ed9...- dmk005

I found this review nearly impossible to read without getting a major headache. For those who find something useful in it--good for you. I have a great house to sell you in an up and coming city some call Baghdad.- dmk005

High-end custom IEMs vs. closed cans
I have custom IEMs (Prophonic 2X-S) and Ed. 9's and if I had to choose, I would go with custom IEMs. I love my Ed. 9's but I would rarely find them practical outside of my office place. There really is no place where a custom IEM could not be used where a full sized can (closed or open) would be...- dmk005

Got my Ray Samuels B-52!!!
I've never worried about removing headphones from their jacks at all so I wouldn't worry unless you buy an Apache (they are very light and have been known to move when plugging/unplugging and possibly scratching the surface beneath them).- dmk005

Edition 9 plus $400 for a HP1000, worth it ?
The s-video cable I cut for this modification is slightly larger than 3/8 so almost a half an inch in diameter. My elephant ears forced me to push the envelop on this modification but I am quite pleased.- dmk005

Edition 9 plus $400 for a HP1000, worth it ?
Sure, I've heard the HP1000s and I would say they are a good reference headphone as they sounded very balanced to me. I prefer, however, for my headphones to be a bit warmer, with a tab more bass push than what I can recall. Now, this opinion comes from my understanding of "balanced" and "warm"...- dmk005

Edition 9 plus $400 for a HP1000, worth it ?
I love my Ed 9's and have successfully overcome the comfort issue with Thread's modification (albeit a VERY thick s-video cable was used to make room for my radar ears). If you cannot overcome the issue, take the deal and I am sure you will still be in good enough shape to sell them and move on...- dmk005

The B-52 is Amazing!!!
It's hard for me to imagine the degree of appreciable improvement one would experience when jumping from a B-52 to a Maestro ZR. Pray tell you hope to gain. I continue to be "wowed" by my bomber.- dmk005

Does anyone make an adapter that will enable any 3.5 plug work with the iphone? I used to not care about this but my company just told me they wanna buy me an iphone in February. I currently use custom IEMs.- dmk005

Reality check: Even Pico is not justifiable ?
Clearly, portable amps with a built-in dac offer more than sonic performance. There is practical value to overcoming the limiting factors around most laptop sound cards. The volume coming from the sound card of my Gateway tablet is not enough to enjoy while on a train or airplane, even with...- dmk005

The Headphones Vs Speakers Challenge
Speakers are engineered to utilize many more physical properties to their benefit. An obvious example is that subs use air movement to create depth and tones one cannot hear but can certainly feel. This results in a massive sound stage that can only compete with live productions. The only...- dmk005

Photos: HeadAmp Pico & RSA Predator
If you include the rear screws which protrude past the end of the Pico case is it still shorter than the Predator? I prefer the back of the Predator too with the flat phillips screws with zero protrusion but do feel the Pico paint job is a nicer finish. I wonder, however, what will wear better...- dmk005
