    Audeze SINE Series

Great work @antdroid ! Which pads are your favourite sound and comfort wise? I've been using the CALs, thinking about getting the Aviators too.

If you still love Etymotic ER4, this is the thread for you...

Hi guys, I need more foam tips for my er2xr. Is this the same one that comes with them? https://www.amazon.com/Etymotic-Research-ER38-14F-Replacement-Eartips/dp/B0078JXDRI I’m also having little luck keeping isolation with the triflanges. Opening my jaw loses bass and clenching teeth brings it...

The 'classic trio': K702, HD650 & DT880. Any bases left uncovered?

I'd say the HD600-series came out victorious in terms of still continuing sales and high respect in the community. DT880 has made somewhat of a comeback (on these hp forums at least), K700-series not so much. Used to own K701 and found it simply inadequate in the bass department. Pretty looks...

If you still love Etymotic ER4, this is the thread for you...

From the get-go 2XR is different from 3 and 4 because it's one dynamic driver. I'm surprised how little this model gets coverage vs. the BA models. I don't want the mids and highs to be the only things upfront and worth mentioning. I need to have some lows too, maybe even a bit of a boost when...

If you still love Etymotic ER4, this is the thread for you...

Here's my initial views on ER2XR from an other forum, enjoy! _______________________________________________________________________ Etymotic ER2XR early views My journey to find a fulfilling, isolating and easy to use IEM has led to ER2XR - basically a dynamic Ety with some real bass and a...

    What is a "fun" headphone?

Denon D2000 and Creative Aurvana Live meet my definition of fun headphones. Some V-shape in the signature, hefty bass and some extra sizzle up top.

Battle Of The Flagships (58 Headphones Compared)

HD800 + EQ, or just get Sonarworks True-fi - that will get you very close to "end-game" resolution and FR wise. If you totally need planar bass, you get planar, though.

Audeze LCD-2C Classic - Impressions Thread

I own a pair of late-2010 LCD-2.1 - is the Classic pretty close the same sound-wise? I've been thinking of trying one out but I'm thinking they'll be pretty similar. I bet comfort is way better, though.

    open vs. closed: value

Generally you need to pay more for good SQ with closed models, imo. Closed headphones tend to have more bass though, which might make them sound "better" for some. Anyhoo, it's much easier to design a good sounding hp, when sound is let through the back, without dealing with the closed cup...

    Audeze SINE Series

So, here's a few pics with the CAL! pads.

    Audeze SINE Series

I have two pairs of the V1 Momentums - haven't tried those yet. Those pads seem way thicker than the CAL pads from their looks. I'd think that larger ear-to-driver distance was the reason my (angled sheepskin) HM5 pads were so overblown in the bass dept.

    Audeze SINE Series

My angled sheepskin HM5 pads colored the sound loads. The bass became overbearing to say the least. I'll see if I can snap some photos tomorrow.

    Audeze SINE Series

So, here's my take after a week with the Creative Aurvana Live! pads - usurped from my own pair of CALs.. They're a real winner, a no-brainer - my Sines went from no use to all the use. They're semi over-ear with much softer pads that let the pair sit stably on my head, really great when on a...

    Audeze SINE Series

I've had trouble with the stock pads for several years now, even though I've loved the sound these produce. SQ-wise these are best portable over-the-head hp I've yet heard (vs PM3, Momentum, QC35, CAL etc). The stock pads just don't isolate well enough to create a good seal. The volume goes up...

Can the HD 58X replace the HD 600 as mixing headphones?

For most music HD600 is just fine for mixing, even when monitoring the lows. Rock, metal, acoustic, folk and live-music in general usually have quite little subs - they just get in the way. On the other hand, some very bass-prominent electronic music might need that extra sub-reach from the...

Rank the most accurate headphones you've heard.

    1. HD800 EQ'd. Awesomely clear and rich with details in the highs. Snappiest and cleanest bass I've heard from a dynamic. I quite like the wide and not "inside-the-head" soundstage, it's an easier presentation vs in-your-face in the long run. The lows take EQ just great, unlike the HD600-series...

    Sennheiser Momentum impressions thread

I own two pairs of 1st gen Momentums (black and brown, stumbled on a cheap 2nd pair). Listening just now through my iPhone 6s+ versus RME ADI-2 DAC's iem out the latter seems snappier, punchier and more controlled in the lows. Perhaps not as much a difference than with my 5s vs Fiio, but the...

    Sennheiser Momentum impressions thread

Coming from a person that doesn't see much use in amps, portable ones especially... Hah, the V.1 Momentum suffers greatly from weak sources, my old iPhone 5s being a prime example. I don't know if the problem was OI or what, but my Fiio E7 just sounded way better in comparison. Bass guitar notes...

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.

Just bought and received a grey 1,25m Color series cable (with old-skool HFM screw-in connectors) from Forza Audioworks. It works great vs that piece of you-know-what HFM thought was okay for one great headphone like this. There's minimal microphonic noise, it's very malleable and has totally...

    Audeze SINE Series

Much thicker than original HM5 slanted sheepskins made the closed Sines way more bassy - are we sure this isn't going to happen with the Aviators? At least these would look cool when out-and-about.

Best "dark" sounding high end headphone?

Yeah, just forget about Philips X2 - it's a very colored and distorted hp that got it's day as the FOTM once. But it really isn't that good. I fell for it, now I know better. Loads of bass @ 60hz doesn't make them comparable to HD600/650 etc.

Best "dark" sounding high end headphone?

This sounds a lot like a pre-Fazor LCD-2 or LCD-2C. Very good bass without a too neutral tone. These are fun, dramatic and easy to listen for long.

Sennheiser HD800 Certificate for Frequency Response Arrived

Coming from an owner of HD800, maybe stating the obvious... These graphs are too simplified and show the hp in a way too favourable light FR-wise. Saying that, EQ does 'em wonders.

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.

Thanks for the tip, I did just that and ordered one. That (light) grey one should go nicely with the 500.
