The DACs in galaxy s6 and the m9.. What do we know?
I took delivery of an M9 yesterday - it's still in its sealed packaging, and I'm considering taking it back to swap for an S6 (once they're out). My phone is my primary DAP, so the apparent quality of the M9 is a valuable plus point, but I also require it to do phone stuff - nothing sounds...- Ninety

Standard Sennheiser Cable - colour coding for cores
Hello After an ear infection, I've become paranoid and decide to give some Sennheiser HD218s a try, the idea being to go with something cheap to see how I feel about wearing headphones on my commute, as against IEMs. They're not great SQ wise, but they're a handy size and they were cheap...- Ninety

Nexus 5 Sound Quality?
I've swapped over from an iPhone 5C and a Rockboxed iPod to the Nexus 5 as my main portable device, driving JVC FXC-80s and a-Jays Ones. I'm using Poweramp with a +10dB Reply gain, but flat EQ and I'm really happy with the sound. The sound to me is fairly well balanced, perhaps lacking a little...- Ninety

JVC HA-FXC80 IEMs - Impressive SQ for the price
Hello Resurrecting an old thread I know, but I've just got a set of FXC80s (for £19 from Asda!) and I'm really impressed with the SQ so far - bass is deep and controlled, while the initial brightness has worn off after a week's constant listening. I'm struggling a bit with the...- Ninety

Reply to review by 'ninety' on item 'JVC HAFXC80 Black Series In-Ear Carbon Headphones'
Just got my FXC80s today - the fit does take a bit of getting used to, but so far I'm finding them comfortable. I was slightly worried at first as I tried them with the supplied medium tips, then Shure black olives (they will stretch over) and I was getting very little bass. I *thought* I was...- Ninety

Looking for a solid set of in-earphones - £50ish
I'm a big fan of my Audio Technica ATH-CKM50s, but they're probably a bit bass-light for your tastes. ATH-CKS55s might be more suited in your price range (though I'm a bit of an AT fan). If you're looking at JVC though, Asda (yes, Asda) have FXC80s for £19 and FXC50s for £14.97...- Ninety

Small case for IEM
x2 on the Altoids tin Also, some snuff tins would be big enough - it's normally about GBP3 a tin from your local tobacconist or if you want to get flash, there's a good number of antique options...- Ninety

AT CKL200s - Pleasantly surprised...
Ah. Thanks ljokerl Hmm, well they *can* be worn over-the-ear, but since the tip is mounted at an angle to the body, it's orientation is reversed when upside down. When worn normally, the bodies toe-in towards the front of your head, hence when they're over-the-ear the bodies toe-out to the...- Ninety

AT CKL200s - Pleasantly surprised...
@jant71 - for me at least, they do fit well. That said, I've always got on better with this style (like CKM50s and Sony EX90s). Also, if you let me know what you mean by wearing both ways, I'll try it and get back to you.- Ninety

AT CKL200s - Pleasantly surprised...
@ljokerl - the olives just went straight on; a bit of a squeeze, but no heating/cutting etc required. @rawster - I reckon you're joking, but it's worth noting that the Crazy (AT's name, not mine) colourway seems to be the only other apart from black with a black cable. There's a load of plain...- Ninety

AT CKL200s - Pleasantly surprised...
Just a quick post here with my initial thoughts on CKL200s. I got a set (go ahead, flame me) because, ahem, I liked the multi-coloured mouldings. Anyway, they were dirt cheap off Accessory Jack, so I gave them a whirl... First off, they have a proper length cable. I'm not a big fan of the...- Ninety

Nokia 5530 XpressMusic as a DAP - Not impressed
I just picked up a 5530 yesterday and first impressions aren't that bad. I've put a varied range of music on and tested it with my modded Marshmallows, using the headphone option (as against line out). Firstly, while the phone is pretty loud, but the bottom half of the volume scale is usable...- Ninety

Kicker EB101 First Impressions
Hello After the cabling issues with my CKM50s, I decided to get some new IEMs - they had to be reasonably cheap and with single piece cables (obviously I wanted them to sound good too). Anyway, I was on my way to get some Denons when I saw these Kickers - I knew the brand from the in-car...- Ninety

IEMs with good cables...
Looking through your sig, that's pretty high praise! I might well plump for some 551s then and hope they've the same setup. Thanks for your responses!- Ninety

IEMs with good cables...
Thanks Mark - they would be possibles, but they've got the short cable and extension, so they're probably a no go. How do you find your C751s when you've got the extension on?- Ninety

IEMs with good cables...
Hmm, sounds good, but they're a bit over budget in England - they seem to be going for about GBP50. Are PL11s and PL30s similar cable-wise? Any others?- Ninety

IEMs with good cables...
Hello I've had a trawl through the forums, but I can't find an answer to what may seem a strange question, so... I've had my ATH-CKM50s for about a year now; they sound great and I'm happy with the improvement over my Kramered Marshmallows in that department. However, the AT cable is...- Ninety

I used to like my Bass Freqs until they died (rubbish cable) - preferred them to my marshmallows and CX300s in all aspects. Apart from the aforementioned build quality. A question though; do we know anything about these? Jivo JI-1050B Black Sound Isolating Earphones | SALE Now On! They...- Ninety

Well, I tried a Meridian 603 off the bay and it wasn't all that - this might have had something to do with my homemade interconnects, but I didn't swap around to find out (they checked alright on the meter). Anyway, the upshot is that my local 2nd Hand Hifi dealer offered me a swap against a...- Ninety
