Is the iPod lineout better than other great sounding players?

That´s a Wolfson DAC, like the iPods up to 5.5G had. But the actual iPod uses a Cirrus Logic audio codec chip. DAC, control logic and amp are integrated into one chip. I doubt that the signal gets out to the to the Line Out in the middle [of the signal path] of the chip. The iPod should have...

    The Pacemaker

Has anyone bought a Pacemaker? Since the Pacemaker is out, i´ve nothing heard about it. Maybe it´s just not as good as expected but i can´t imagine nobody bought one instead of an iPod/iMod/iRvier Hxxx.

Cannot hear difference between USB DACs

The MS1 aren´t IEM. And the MS2 are much more revealing. The MS1 sound realy nice, but they are the opposite of revealing.

Do closed design phones typically make eardrums throb??

Clamping closed HP, who trap the air, can cause ear throbbing. But the Denon AH-D2000 for example sits very loose on your ears. Much looser than a studio headphone like the AKG 240/271, Sennheiser HD25 or the Ultrasone HP. And the ATH-W5000 sits so loose on your ears, that many have problems...

How To Build One Of The World's Finest Dynamic Headphones (markl Denon AH-D5000 Mods)

I want to damp the earcups, The Metal Headphone Assembly and the Rear Of The Driver. But i live in Germany and Xtreme Dynamat / Dynaxorb cost me at least € 45. That´s around 70 Dollars, the same stuff cost the half in the USA. I have a bitumen pad for my computer. The pad sits on the floor...

How does K701's bass compare to others?

Just forget about the DT 990. So long as you are not a basshead. Sorry if i insult anyone, but the K-701 is not right HP for bassheads. I owuld rate the bass of the K-701 at 7 or 8 - as long as it has the right amplification. The K-701 needs a good amp in the lower register, because the...

How To Build One Of The World's Finest Dynamic Headphones (markl Denon AH-D5000 Mods)

I know one who had both, D2000 and D5000 and he likes his D5000 more than the D2000. The D5000 has a more balanced sound and the D2000 has more pronounced bass and highs [for him]. I don´t know if it has something to do with the resonance of the wooden earcups. There are other ways to...

    Why?

If you want to get stimulated by the music, you need drum and bass. ´Cause the rythmn is in there, in the mids are the melodies. I get "scared" by upper mids (6000-8000 Hz). That hurts. Bass gives me a comfortable feeling. I´m more a person who wan´t to relax. But the threadstarter...

    AT W5000 or Denon D5000 or ???

Then you need a Sony MDR-SA5000. No headband - it uses a net on your head. And the HP is very light (made out of magnesium). Leather earpads - what can anyone want more?

What's more important: Musicality or Detail?

That´s why i bought AKG K-701. Know to be detailed, but also musically. You hear the music as a whole. Nut just the kickbass and some highs.
