Feeding a Rega DAC with a portable player
I've searched but can't find anything on this. My system: *source* > Rega DAC > Ben Duncan Phones01 > Markl D7000 Feeding the DAC from my CDP or even xbox everything sounds great. However, I'm wondering if there is any portable player with an output that I can run into the DAC. ...- R300

Modern pmp with "proper" line-out
I've searched and found no up-to-date conclusive information on this. My Kit: Rio Karma (stolen) > custom portable amp > triple-fi My Rio was an excellent player, but since I got pick-pocketed in London, I'm in need of a replacement. I'm looking for a player with a proper line-out...- R300

High end iem advice please
I'm placing to get a new set of custom iems or maybe a top end set of universals. I'm looking for something with great top end extension, like the er4s and deep tight controlled bass, again with lots of extension. PRAT is important too. The triple.fi, driven right, has the sort of bass I like...- R300

Matrix M-Stage Observations
I decided to buy the M Stage in the hope it would adequately drive my k701, on the basis "if it doesn't work out, if havent spent much money." However I found the results to be quite interesting. I thought I would say what I found with my different phones, as it appears a partner for the M Stage...- R300

Anyone tried k701 and Matrix M-Stage?
Still searching for the ideal amp for my k701. Recently tried the Chordette Toucan - great (really great) sound but couldn't drive the k701 loud enough! Anyways, would love to know what people think of the M-Stage and k701. I like the idea of the gain controls, as I have a selection of...- R300

Inspire me - post your K701 rig!
Been running Rega Planet > Ben Duncan Phones01 > HD580J for nearly 15 years, but recently took the plunge on the K701. Whilst the Phones01 synergises great with the HD580J, the K701 sounds a bit hollow, coloured and bass light. However my gut feeling is the K701 is capable of more (just...- R300

Any Ben Duncan Phones-01 owners?
Anyone else here with this apparently little-known amp? http://www.britishaudio.co.uk/PHO1FLY.html Driving my HD580 Jubilees, I have found it comprehensively better then the Naim Headline and V-Cans (would love to hear the X-Can v8p though). Fast, detailed, great soundstage and...- R300

HD800 - am I missing something?
I was fired up, ready to drop more than a few pennies on an HD800 and amplification so I trialled a pair with Naim CDS3 and XPS2 through a Headline with Supercap and... meh Sibilant highs to my ears and slightly overblown base. Yes they sounded good but I preferred my ER4S. After all...- R300

Trple.fi cable upgrades
I couldn't find a recent thread on this. Been listening to my Trple.fis for a few days now - love 'em but I have a feeling they could benefit sonically from better cable (not to mention the molded wire annoys me a bit). Has anyone got experience of upgraded cable, and can make a...- R300

Anyone re-padded HD600?
The ear pads and the padding under the headband of my HD600s have had it, after 15yrs of use! I know new pads are available, but they seem very over-priced and I haven't found anywhere to get new headband padding. Anyone done a DIY repair on their senns? I have ready access to...- R300

Ety ER4 - a HiFi classic?
Been searching for new 'phones long and hard, and finally settled on these babies. Frankly I'm amazed by them and think they should go down as one of the classic HiFi components. Balance, tonality, detail, pace - all supurb. Some people call them bass light, but I find with the right front-end...- R300

Compare er4s and UE10pro?
OK I'm getting close to chosing my preferred phone at the moment er4 is coming first. Surprising as I set out wanting bass phones, but I love the mids, treble, attack, detail and timing. For people who have heard 'em both, do the UE10pros have the amazing qualities of the er4, with more bass...- R300

Something with better timing than the HD600
TBH I'm having a hard time choosing new phones at the moment. I'm looking for something that sounds not too har from the hd600, but with better timing i.e. not laid back like the senns. In short I want phones with PRAT (pace, rythm, acceleration, timing). I'm running a rega planet > phones...- R300

Replacing HD600 capsules
I blowing dust off the drivers with straw, but stupidly touched one of the drivers by accident. :( I've noticed a very small indenttion on one of the clear bubles covering the drivers. I'm not 100% sure, but it just sounds the tiniest bit distorted compared to what I'm used too. I may be...- R300

se420 Advice
I'm trialling a several pairs of iems at the moment, one of which being the Shure se420. I'm an iem newbie btw. Whilst there is plenty to commend these phones, there are a couple of big problems. I don't know if this is because they need burning in, or maybe I'm not fitting them correctly...- R300

Sounding a bit like Ety hf-2, but higher spec?
Been trialling a friend's hf-2s and must say I'm mightily impressed by the overall ballance, top end detail and ability to handly treble energy without sibilance. Especially true given their price. However, I've got a bit more money burning a hole in my pocket and would like to go for some...- R300

HD580/600 - Keeping clean without the foam
I find removing the foam membrane from my HD580 Jubilees improves the high end somewhat, but eventually bits of dust, oil etc start to build up on clear domed membrane of the drivers. I don't want to keep cleaning them as they are presumably quite delicate. Anyone had any ideas for keeping...- R300

IEM for portable listening?
When I really want to listen properly I use my trusty senn 580J rig, however I want something for listening to lastfm on the lappy and flac/mp3 my portable player when out and about. IEMs seem ideal due to size. I currently have a pair of senn PX100, but feel I could probably go a bit more...- R300

Headphone and Dealer advice please (London)
My current rig is Rega Planet > Phones 01 amp > HD580 Jubilee I love the Jubilees for the detail, soundstage and extensive, flat response. However, while the bass goes deep, it doesn't have the punch I know the Planet can dish out. I feel I could use a second pair of phones for some of the...- R300

Anyone else notice a difference upgrading to 650 cable?
I've just upgraded the cables in my 580 Jubilees to 650 cables and, for the price, wow! In addition to much better build quality, bass in particular seems to be tighter with more 'slam'. Possibly slightly better timing too. Not bad for £25! Anyone else noticed this, or am I just going mad?- R300

Cleaning the Innards of an HD 580?
The inner foam disks on my HD 508J became ripped (I've had them for nearly 10 years), and - stupid me - I continued using them. There are now a few tiny spots of dirt on the speaker sufaces. It seams risky, but is it possible to remove the dirt without damaging them? They are now safely in...- R300

Sennheiser Revisited
I've just got back into headphone listening after a long hiatus, but have found my once beloved Senn 580 Jubilees slightly lacking. However, I have yet to find a set of phones that quite 'does it' for me. Any suggestions on what I should try? Basically I want something with a bit more punch...- R300
