So far through researching I know of only two DACs that are 1) nonoversampling and 2) accept up to 96khz sample rates thru USB - even if the DAC truncates to 16-18 bits, higher sample rates are still accepted (and maybe someone can confirm that I'm right about this for the Havana)... Red Wine...

but what's strange is that there seem to be differing opinions, evaluations of the little dot micro (dark, bright) ~ i suspect it's a quality control issue (or non-issue, as the case may be)

i suspect all that circuitry needed for the video compromises the audio quality somehow (similar to not generally wanting to listen to audio on a dvd player...)

actually, that's what i thought exactly, the little dot micro being darker (not bright at all). by comparision the airhead was the one that was bright.

i've heard the dac1 but don't own it... and i have a sa8001. granted the dac1 is better on any cd. but for sacd the sa8001 just wins by default.

well for whatever reason vinnie won't do the mod on anything but the 4g... so i guess it's a specially good dac in there

what kind of dac does the 5.5 version have?
