You can tape off the oval venting port on the upper edge of the earcup to get less bass. The more you tape off, the less bass you'll hear.

They're not even close. The DAVE has the most lifelike sound I have ever heard from any DAC. The Master 11 sounds very artificial to me. YMMV but to me its not a fair fight.

The WA22 is not a great pairing for the Z1R. Bass gets boomy and bloated. I personally think the Z1R sounds best out of leaner amps, but I think it sounds the best overall out of my WA8.
