I can't imagine the differences tbh., is there any way to describe that? Currently i am listening to Empy's. They are quite dark, much more so than i imagined but on the other hand, i don't have the issue with my left ear that i have with my other headphones where it gets painfull to listen to...

Honestly, is 17-1800 for an Empy a good value over an, say, LCD X or 2..

The AMP/DAC would be next on my list. :)  And i would use them almost exclusively with my PC.   Unfortunateley if i order the Oppos from the USA they are almonst exactly the same price after customs and i doubt that Oppo wouldn't provide a proper invoice. Also, i've contacted Oppo about that...
