    Referencesounds/LFF's modded HE-5 >Code-X< thread

http://i.imgur.com/HIBsB9H.jpg   http://i.imgur.com/25yS4eF.jpg   Here you go. Image attachment wasn't working for me.    Code-X has some rug liner in front of the drivers. I meant Luis glues his headphones shut. This was necessary on Paradox/Slants since they are hermetically sealed as...

    Referencesounds/LFF's modded HE-5 >Code-X< thread

Unfortunately, Luis seals his modified headphones so there is no simple way to show what the drivers look like.    He does refinish the wood to minimize the chance of cracking.

Just be careful with the Zana Deux or anything that uses the 6C33C. I've seen people get some pretty nasty burns from how ridiculously hot those tubes get.    Definitely not a family or pet safe choice of tubes.

GUSTARD H10 High-current Discrete Class A output Stage Headphone Amplifier

Guys, while the amp does improve drastically over time with burn-in, you should still take some time to listen to it in between.    It's a journey, one which you should enjoy.    I wasn't really impressed with the amp until one day it kinda just "clicked". It's really hard to tell any...

One of the major benefits of SMPS is that it works with all voltages. You should be fine. :)

GUSTARD H10 High-current Discrete Class A output Stage Headphone Amplifier

Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with the Beyer clone, so I can't speak for how well that pairing would work. It seems much better suited for regular dynamic headphones though.    The Gustard is actually a bit on the warmer side of things. It doesn't overly romanticize songs, but it isn't...

The AKG K7XX Massdrop First Edition Thread

Interesting... I have not actually plugged my K7xx into the the Gustard H10 yet...been mostly using it with the Schiit Vali.    They are most certainly excellent headphones, and even more so when you consider their price point and value.

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.

Hmmm, I use a Vali daily with my Slants, HE500, Code-X, HD800, etc...   The Vali hasn't had much problem driving any of these headphones. I rarely push the volume past 12 o'clock, maybe 1 o'clock for some classical.    The Magni 2 does have more power, but I find the Vali to impart a better...

    ENIGMAcoustics Dharma

?   And it certainly is a valid question with regards to the K340. It's just that you'd certainly expect it to be a worthwhile upgrade from the K340, what with the additional cost and modern update.    I agree that it's main competitors will be coming from LCD-2, HD800, Ether, etc, but that...

    ENIGMAcoustics Dharma

Well, the K340 comparison comes from the fact that they use similar technologies, dynamic driver + electrostat hybrid...   Logically, people are itching to see if the tech has improved since then...

So, the phase coherency is much better than the K340s, with some minor things they still need to tweak, mostly due to the crossover design.    The reps received quite a bit of feedback from CanJam, and I'm hopeful that they'll be able to sift through all the feedback and adjust accordingly. ...

The 6C33C tubes used in the Zana get ridiculously hot. You can seriously not run your heater if you own a Zana, and it's very unbearable during the summer. Other than that though, amazing sound.    I'd stick with Glenn's standard options. Can't imagine you'd go wrong with anything Glenn makes.

Are you still talking about using DHTs in an OTL design??   I think I've seen a handful of power amps using multiple output tubes ( >2 ) per channel.    If you're thinking to use the amp for both headphones and speakers, it might be possible to implement a switch, since the loads for...

Ah yes, I forgot how amazing of a tube the C3g is. It's great how Glenn is able to find these "non-audio" tubes and produce such great results from them. This includes the 6BL7s and tv damper diodes. Looking at the specs for these, they were built to much higher standards than some audio tubes...

Eddie Current uses 4 45s in his design. I'm not an expert with tubes at all, but I'd imagine that you'd get an increase in power output by parallel output tubes, but will also need a larger driver stage to get the necessary current to the output stage.    Expensive, more parts, etc. There are...

Perhaps 2A3s? It seems like 45s are pretty limited due to what they can actually power, hence the limitations with driving some equipment.

SF Bay Area mini meet May 2nd 2015 (CanJam after party!!!!)

Ravi, I can bring the Slants and Code-X? They both use the angled HM5 style pads. I prefer them to the Alpha pads.    Feel free to bring the HP1000 and Abyss, as I have neither of those.    --Jeff

haha Ravi, we have so much overlapping gear that we can probably bring either or.    Let me know if you don't feel bringing anything, and I can try to handle it on my side if that makes it easier.    Debating on whether to lug over the F5...

The driver is angled, so there is a little bit more room inside the pads than you'd think. Pads themselves are very very soft. Not HM5/003 pads soft, but very comfy none the less.    I don't think I had any issues with comfort. Fit was just a little bit weird, but they are improving the...

    Hifiman HE1000 Planar Dynamic Headphone

Not much clamping pressure either. Thing just sits on your head and you barely notice.    Much lighter than the LCD headphones.

    Hifiman HE1000 Planar Dynamic Headphone

Exceedingly comfortable imo. Might have some issues with smallest setting if your head is small, but It fits more like the SR-009 with larger earpads. Your head has to be reaaaaally small.     More comfortable than HE-560, due to the larger earpads.
