O2 Build Complete: Let the objective, subjective listening tests commence!

This test was done using 1/4 jack, which i think is more like 15 mOhm (I can try to locate its datasheet).   btw this unit also has 1/8 jack wired in parallel, I can try to rerun these tests in a different configuration..   As for the crosstalk being better for 330 Ohm vs no load at...

O2 Build Complete: Let the objective, subjective listening tests commence!

Speaking of those observing much worse RMAA results/crosstalk ..   These are all DIY builds, and there is no quality control in a normal sense. Parts could be different, build quality can suffer, test setup itself could create additional crosstalk.. I'm not saying this was the case, but...

O2 Build Complete: Let the objective, subjective listening tests commence!

Quote:     Ok, let me share mine..   Just not to get into this 2ch vs 3ch debate let's take a passive-ground amp: CK2III (I have one in my headamp collection). Test setup should be straightforward in this case.   My CKK is a pretty standard (and economical) build, with a...

O2 Build Complete: Let the objective, subjective listening tests commence!

Is it A/B testing circuit?   Just in case you plan to test 3-channel beta vs 2 channel O2, you might need 3 pole switch (to switch between real and virtual ground).

O2 Build Complete: Let the objective, subjective listening tests commence!

I can second that. Volume-matching is absolutely necessary in any A/B test. Louder amp will is more likely to be perceived as sounding better. When levels are carefully matched, you might be surprised how close they all sound.   Don't get me wrong - the difference is still...

O2 Build Complete: Let the objective, subjective listening tests commence!

In my experience: Cost of parts (including shipping) is just way below that. However, if it is someone's first build - it might get expensive considering cost of necessary tools, lack of experience, parts that were missed (not ordered) initially..   Plus casing this thing up...

Possible damaged headphone drivers (Sennheiser HD650)

Thank you very much Ham Sandwich,   I did check resistance - seems perfectly fine for both - 296 Ohm   I'll try to open them up and inspect carefully.

Possible damaged headphone drivers (Sennheiser HD650)

Hi ImitationOfLife,   It's an old thread, but I wonder how it worked out for you.. Did you manage to test/replace the driver?   It looks like I have the same problem which I just noticed yesterday. There is annoying buzz in the right driver which is noticeable when playing low tones...

    Calling E-mu 1212M modders

I have my 1212m modded this way (four coupling caps are bypassed). The card has stock opamps in it. I measure a very modest DC offset at the unbalanced outputs: 7.6mV and 1.9 mV for the left and right channel respectively. At the output of my headphone amp (M-cube) connected to the EMU at the...

NY Area Fall Meet, Nov 14, 2009, Harrison NY - It's Official!

I’m lucky to notice this event BEFORE it actually happened :-) I can bring Sennheiser HD-650, Audio Technica ATH-M50s, DIY CK2III headphone amp, and a DIY AYA DAC (rev 2.0b). AYA is a nice sounding piece of equipment but unfortunately I do not have a decent digital transport to match its...
