    VERY impressed with Sony MDR-EX90LP!

First of all, for those who never heard of these, I'm talking about these: I have lately been striving to find a decent (earbud-sized) pocketable can. After going through JVC Marshmallows - Sennheiser CX300 - JBL Reference 220 Ive stumbled across these "ibrid" canalphones from Sony. I...

    My JBL Reference 220 review

For 25 bucks they're an absolute bargain! I paid mine roughly 70 bucks because I bought them here in Italy, where headphones prices in general are very high in respect to america.., too bad, huh? Oh, nevermind... 70 bucks won't kill my wallett...

    My JBL Reference 220 review

I have been lately striving to find (for portable use) an iem/canalphone in the under 100$ price range that would give me decent isolation and a balanced clear sound. I have tried creative EP-630, some sony-ericsson canalphones bundled with walkman phones and jvc marshmallows. All of these...

JVC Marshmallows: unbeatable price/performance ratio , I am impressed.

I was in need of a new portable can because being used to nice cans I can't stand using earbuds anymore (I have Ibuds and senn mx450 and I hate them both) and all of my nice cans are not pocketable (my smallest can is grado SR60) So I bought for about 15$ JVC marshmallows, and after burning...

Side-effects of having nice cans: I can't use/stand earbuds anymore...

After many, many months of not using any kind of earbuds, I listened to apple earbuds, nokia earbuds and then sennheiser MX400s for abiut half an hour each. Boy oh boy they suck ALOT, all of them... I guess getting used to nice sounding cans has its side effects... Earbuds all sound COLD...

Yet Another Underrated Can: AKG K240S - Post your K240s love here

Well, looks like I have a new "best can under within 100 bucks price range" now - The K240 Studio Got em little less than 3 weeks ago and after a short (40 hours) burn in with pink noise they easily sound better than anything else I've tried at this pricepoint. They are sturdy, well built...

has anyone compared the k81dj and the k240s?

Myy K81 are modded, with foam disc removed, and with bluetak inside the earcups, and I have burned them with 200 hours of pink noise... But still my unmodded K240s are SO MUCH BETTER... Both are bass heavy cans, but I think there's a boundary line where bass becomes simply exagerrated. The...

has anyone compared the k81dj and the k240s?

I own them both. It really is a no brainer: the K240S walks all over the K81DJ. It is LEAGUES ahead in terms of sound quality. The K81DJ has exagerrated lowbass, and its bass is bloated, inaccurate, inarticulate, loose, boomy. The low notes of a bass guitar are perceiveed as a single...

Believe it or not I prefer K240 studio to HD650....

Yes, I use my Hornet to power both of them... but the K240 sounds decently even unamped from the hp-out of my tablet pc. It's hard to express my exact thoughts, english not being my first language, but I'll try my best anyway. I KNOW that the HD650 is a more competent headphone, with its...

Believe it or not I prefer K240 studio to HD650....

I recently bought a pair of K240 studio, mostly for curiosity, since they have been on the scene for over two decades now, and they have been used extensively in most recording studios worldwide... plus I kinda like their retro look... These are NOT first impressions. I've had these cans for...

Foam still in. I believe it's there for a reason.

Best headphone purchase, worst headphone purchase you have made

Best: HD650s - After burn-in they are simply amazing with the Hornet and a good silver interconnect between amp and source. Period. Worst: AKG K81DJ - boomy muddy bass bloated things. unrefined, unenjoyable. I sorely regret having spent cash on those cans.

What Do You Use For Burn-In?

Pink noise. Nothing works like it. It does the job better than music, and in shorter time. Period.

Is Little Dot Micro + good to use with shure e500

I own a LDM+ and it's on par with the headphone out of my ipod video... Don't waste your money on it, IMHO. If you want to stay cheap but have a good amp, take a look at the go-vibe. Great bang for the buck there.

Best iPod speakers to buy for a college dorm room

I have a Klipsch Igroove and it sounds pretty good, also it's compact and stylish. Costs less than bose sound dock and apple's hi-fi and is rated higher on all the web reviews.

The hornet is on medium gain, not high gain, don't worry. That's why I have the knob turned that way up.

Think I'm finally done with my portable setup (pics inside)

First of all: I take this setup out of my house only when I go on vacation, so the size is OK for me: everything fits nicely into HD650's box, which I then slip into a suitcase, and I'm all set... The setup is composed of - 80 GB 5.5G Ipod Video (loaded with lossless files) - Black hard...

What Would You Vote as Best Portable Amp?

Hornet M or Larocco PRII if you want to drive everything from full sized, high-end, power hungry cans to IEMs, etc... Tomahawk if you want to drive mainly IEMs and lower impedance cans... I'd choose the Toma over the supermicro 4 because of the case and build quality... The supermicro sure...
