I got Kernel Streaming to work with MediaMonkey!
I have been trying for ages to get Kernel Streaming to work in MediaMonkey with my Av-710. I was messing around last night and I got the Kernel Streaming to work on optical out with the Kernel Streaming winamp plugin and the Envy control panel set to 2 speakers and 44.1 khz. I am so excited...- MonkeysAteMe

CMOY one channel louder than other.
I built a cmoy today and one channel is much louder than the other (95% of the time). Sometimes they are of equal volume, but I do not know why. I checked the DCV output and on R5 there is some discrepancy. On the louder channel it outputs 4.5v. The softer channel outputs 0. I think that is...- MonkeysAteMe

Will the OPA627 work with a go-vibe?
I recenly bought a go-vibe along with an OPA627 from someone. The OPA2227 works perfectly in the Go-Vibe, but the OPA627 does not. After some research it seems the OPA627 is not a dual op-amp. Can it work in the Go-Vibe(version 3)? Thank you.- MonkeysAteMe

Using speaker wire for interconnect?
Can I use some speaker wire for an interconnect? It seems like a good option because it's pretty large gauge, but I'm worried about the lack of shielding. I can also use some solid cat5e cable, would that be better to use?- MonkeysAteMe

Can I use a different wallwart than the manufacturer's for a DAC?
I am looking at a DAC but the seller says it does not come with a wallwart. The original wallwart is 16v 650ma. I have a wallart that is rated at 16.5v and 2a, would this be safe to use? Also, where are some good places to buy to buy wallwarts if the one I have wouldn't work well. Thank you.- MonkeysAteMe

A question on amp gain.
I've seen amps that have gain 2, gain 3, gain 6, gain +19db, etc... What does this mean? Is gain 6 the same as gain +6db ? What difference do the differnet gain levels make? If I'm looking to power 32ohm headphones what gain would be ideal? If I'm looking to power 600ohm headphones...- MonkeysAteMe

I need a digital receiver for under $100.
I know this is very cheap for this kind of stuff, but alas my budget constraints won't let me go any higher. Is there a good/decent digital receiver for under $100? I do not mind buying used. I don't need any surround sound, but I do need a decent stereo mode to power 2 pretty ineffecient...- MonkeysAteMe

Difference between onboard spdif out and sound card spdif out?
I have both an onboard spdif out and the chaintech AV-710 spdif out. Is there going to be a difference in quality between the two (once I get my digital receiver that is)? Thank you. P.S. Sorry if this has been posted before, the search engine isn't working for me ( I keep getting errors).- MonkeysAteMe

Ideal position for speakers
I have two fairly large speakers, and I was wondering what the ideal positioning of them would be. I will be setting them up at my desk. One on either side. Would they be better lower to the ground, midway(even to my head), or above my head. Or does it not really matter? Thanks.- MonkeysAteMe

Questions about DACs and Amps with PCs
I've got a few questions about using my computer as a source. If I have a chaintech av710 will a lowend DAC(around 50 dollars maybe a little higher) be an upgrade over the built in DAC? If not what would be the price I should expect to pay for an upgrade? If there are any in my price range...- MonkeysAteMe

Affordable(<$100) IEMs, isolation is a priority
I am looking for some affordable IEMs that have great isolation, but I also have a tight budget. The cheaper the better even if it means a hit in sound quality, but I do not want a hit in the isolation. I am using these to commute so careful listening is not possible. What are the...- MonkeysAteMe

Sample Rates
I've read that music samples at 44.1khz so is having a higher sample rate on a sound card benificial or detrimental. Wouldn't having a card that samples at 48 be better than a card that samples at 196 because there is less of a jump or am I missing something?- MonkeysAteMe

Upgrade my sound card and possibly a DAC
I have a Creative SB live sound card (around at least 6 years old). Is there a sound card that is a significant step up without breaking the bank(under 100 dollars)? Or would I be better off just buying a DAC? Should I get a nicer sound card now and get a DAC later or should I get a DAC...- MonkeysAteMe

I want some good under 100 dollar headphones
Here's what ranks most important to me(in order) Sound Quality Durability Comfort From my research I have narrowed it down to either Grado sr60/890's or Sennheider hd 280's (pro I believe). Headphonerevies.org gave hd 280's alot better ratings than the sr's, but it seems alot more people...- MonkeysAteMe
