How many concerts did you go in 2010 ?
yay for live music. Zola Jesus and Evangelista were my favorite shows with Whartscape being my favorite event. i saw normally one or two opening bands at each of these shows if someone wants to figure out how many bands i saw. ~52 shows counting each day of the festivals as one...- swoon

Why Kanye West = God?
rock critics like it because of the layers and wall of sound production and everything people hate about kayne, he hates about himself. it's not hard to figure out. -

Modern bands that sound like "classic rock?"
I'll second the new black mountain album and recommend the new free energy album if you really like thin lizzy. -
Anyone capable of appraising an extremely rare CD?
When I worked at a record stored we'd get returns of CDs that had a different album pressed to disc than the disc art/cd case displayed. those were pretty entertaining, though we'd never had a riffi album switched with nwa or anything. -

M.I.A. "Born Free" on David Letterman
to be fair, she sells records regardless of theme. -
The Post and Math Rock appreciation thread.
I think that one sonic youth album got a 0.0 and that Jet album got...uh a video of a monkey urinating into its own mouth. .. but i mean it's not good and when you take that it's not very good plus all the angst/drama over dis plan breaking up (and how bored the band looked playing some of these... -
M.I.A. "Born Free" on David Letterman
i thought it was pretty good, i dunno. i like how she's transforming her songs in the various video/remix/live cuts. though it's kinda biting (i guess) her proteges sleigh bells a bit much though. putting on those two albums though, i mean damn she's not going in the right direction. -
Well recorded metal?
pig destroyer - terrifyer (grindcore) both the album and the bonus 5.1 audio disc are recorded really well. -
The Post and Math Rock appreciation thread.
dis plan and faraquet definitely have their math moments and are great bands. i'd throw Q and not U (first album at least) as math-flirt bands. what's funny about that ska horn joke with sweep is that the second dis plan has a bunch of that same style horn on it. i'm glad they made... -
The Post and Math Rock appreciation thread.
beefheart---> john zorn's naked city ---> don cabellero's what burns never returns is how i normally map math rock. i'd consider don cab to be the "sigur ros" of math rock. vocals with math rock can be really hit or miss i think. there is the whole midwest shellac/rapeman vein that... -

References to songs within songs
it's a little more exact and nice - instead of some old country singer singing on the radio, you get Roy Orbison singing "For the Lonely" and you get the time and place exactly. I like bob dylan's sara: Quote: the classic big star song thirteen Quote: my... -

To you guys who have huge libraries
I have ~2,500 CDs, ~500 records ~400 7inch and 500GB of mp3s (not duplicated). I can't figure out how to best merge the two together, because I really don't like digital music files at all, and find iTunes, foobar et al very hard to model my typical CD listening behavior with. i also wish i...
