Free: DIY start kit in DFW area
I've not had time to get back into the DIY world like I used to. This is my "getting out of DIY" offering as I'm moving and need to downsize. I'm offering up a nice random assortment of parts to anyone who could use them in the DFW area(local only). Preferably to a new DIY'er. -Full "millet...- gates_2

A new start with the O2
Given the drama in the other thread I thought it appropriate to start a new thread regarding this amp. I built up two of these this past weekend. I must say I'm quite impressed with the overall performance, especially considering the price. I've built several high end amps...- gates_2

Anyone else not happy with the TripleFi10's?
Anyone else unhappy with these? Compared to my ER4-S, amped with a good source, its like someone chopped off all the upper range clarity on these..they are incredibly warm and full bodied, but it just sounds, well, rather not good to my ears!(thats with all the different tips, deep in ears, more...- gates_2

My dog just ate my ER4S
I wake up this morning to this: ..I'm a little devastated. I'm home at my parents place, and my 15 year old dog never does things like this. We had bad storms last night, so I think she got worried and needed something to chew on. These were on my chair... Do you think ETY can...- gates_2

DC Offset problem with SOHA JISBOS Buffer
Hey Guys, So, I just built a pair of jisbos buffers to drop into a soha. One of them seems to work fine, biases correctly and dc offset set at 0. Unfortuantely, the other channel is pumping out 6.23 V DC, yet it biases fine. thoughts? EDIT: the board looks fine to me, as in no blatant...- gates_2

white noise in my relay-based attenuator..
Hey guys, So I purchased the Revvol1C from dantimax (http://electronics.dantimax.dk/). Soldered it up, and threw it in the B22. The problem i'm having is white noise, a constant hiss(not hum) when it is hooked up. This hiss changes marginally with each attenuation step. I emailed mikhail...- gates_2

B22 power supply/umbilical question
I just finished my relay- based attenuator for the B22, but it runs off of 5V DC.. I"ve built a little regulated +5V supply. Can I use the +5V from this and the ground from the B22 supply? I ask because i'm using speakon 4-pole connectors to connect the PS to the amp(separate enclosures), and...- gates_2

B22 troubleshooting the soundstage
So, my client was listening to a B22 that I built for him, and he remarked that the soundstage was very narrow on a particular binaural recording. I listened and agreed with him(I've heard it and the soundstage is wider on my pimeta). I just built it and its only been running for 3 hrs or so...- gates_2

speakers buzzing when plugged into soundcard- whats up?
so, I got some cheap crappy 2.1 system for free from a friend- when I hook it up to my modded X-FI card, it buzzes(sounds like the same freq as my fan in the system). When I hook up my ipod...no buzz when i hook my soundcard up to my pimeta and k501- no buzz. I'm assuming there is no...- gates_2

Can someone help me out with my casework?
Hey guys, So, I've got 2 projects cooking right now(first watt f2 and B22) Both of em are up and running, but I've got an issue with casing them. For example, I have 3/8" thick aluminum plate for the front of my first watt, and I'm afraid drilling holes with my hand drill is a good way to...- gates_2

Aluminum casing concerns
I've finally gotten around to ordering some aluminum to case up my firstwatt F2 clone. The heatsinks I used have a 3/8" aluminum plate from with the fins extrude. Each sink is 12" long, so I figured I'd build the case around the heatsinks. First, I ordered a 1/4" thick 16" x 5.375" plate...- gates_2

DIY offerings for the k1000
If I do get the k1000's , teh firstwatt f1 is probably the best DIY amp I can do for em right? I know cost will be around $800-900, and the circuit doesn't look overly complicated, but if someone has experience building this and would like to comment on the feasibility of myself doing...- gates_2
