I have the type B version of the iPurifier3 and the type A version of the iPurifier2. Yes, the type A output works with any standard USB A to mini/micro/type-c (etc) cable. I purchased the iPurifier3 a few years ago when it was first released and it came with type B to micro and type-c adapters...

Just a heads up but Sony headphones (at the earcup) use a different 3.5mm balanced pin-out than other manufacturers. I have no doubt the 1AM2 cable works (although perhaps you're just getting stereo out/in which can still sound ok) but if there's a short due to pin-out mismatch it could damage...

Planar drivers need current to be driven well which is one reason the QLS (and Questyle) DAPs are known to handle planars better. Similar to those and the RS6, the RS2 also has a current mode amp.

I'm usually in Low Gain mode, NOS, average volume around 80, using balanced out and mine still runs fairly cool (even with the case on). Have a number of hi-res albums but most of my collection is 16/44 so I'll let others chime in about running at High Gain with hi-res via balanced. However...

Long pressing volume up/down also worked to skip to next/prev track. At least it used to work on my red HM1K; no longer works on mine since updating to the latest firmware several weeks ago.

Are you running Windows 7 32-bit or 64-bit? Had the same issue trying to install the RU6 driver on an old PC of mine but chalked it up to the 32-bit Win7 on that machine. Haven't tried it on Win7 64 but no issues on multiple Win10 64 driver installs for the RU6.

Not that I could detect which is rare among R2R dacs in my experience. Good thing since it's meant for portable use so no worries about warm-up or keeping it powered all the time. Mine did get noticeably warmer when set to OS though.

Output is same 6W max for SE and XLR. The SP200 isn't fully balanced (XLR input/output mostly there for convenience) so unlike other amps there's no power difference.

I was thinking the exact same. I played drums as a kid (plus tried a few other instruments but wasn't too good at 'em) and can't recall hearing live cymbals that didn't have some harshness. So maybe I'm a bit old school as some of what we hear today may sound preferable even if not entirely...
