What's the consensus on bose?
The Bose SoundTrue IE is a hit for bassheads. It offers BASS and the other part of the spectrum ist handeled ok. I like them better than the neutral Sennheiser Momentums although I am a big Sennheiser fan since the HD800S. The SoundTrue is perfect for bass heavy music like most things with...- Schnarpf

Sennheiser HD800 S Impressions Thread (read first post for summary)
I don't know, but it surely costs less. I like the Duet, because its sound quality, to my mind, is above its price range. I have a Hugo as well, but I can't say that the difference in sound quality is worth the price difference or I am getting a little deaf with age. The Duet is a very good A/D...- Schnarpf

Now I'm getting confused, dear vlach. What does "lean" mean for you? I'm not a native speaker and the Oxford Dictionary didn't help me in this case. Do you mean it has a tendency towards a thinner sound?- Schnarpf

The Hugo is great. I used Audeze phones on it and everything was right. I think I like it better with the closed back EL-8 than with my LCD 2.2. I got the Bryston because I wanted a top quality amp for my turntable and I wanted to use a balanced cable for the Audeze. And the amp should be able...- Schnarpf

Sennheiser HD800 S Impressions Thread (read first post for summary)
I have one at home for testing - make a long story short, I'm going to buy it. It is better than the old 800 that could test twice. My other headphones are Audeze LCD2, EL8C and a Grado 325i. The amp is a Bryston BHA-1. The source was either my TT or my Hugo. Besides the fact that my vintage...- Schnarpf

Audeze LCD-XC vs Fostex TH-900
I only had time to listen to them under show conditions. Both were very good, but what I forgot to set my mind on (too much excitement) was to hear how their isolation is. Which one does leak more sound and which one isolates better from outside sound? A little search brought it out. The Fostex...- Schnarpf

Sorry! Goldmund Studio from ca 1983. the most complex tonearm I ever saw and it is still working with electronic lifting on the run-out groove. Great example of how to make something simple very complicated.- Schnarpf

Fosgate Signature Headphone Amp
I also agree with the review, it's a great amp, especially with my Grado GS1000i. An excellent synergy: dynamic, precise, fast, very, very detailed, but it still shows the whole picture in beautiful colours. It tames the somewhat shouty treble that one hears on other amps when using the GS1k. I...- Schnarpf

Speaker amps for headphones
First of all, thank you for this thread. I have connected my Audeze to my Shindo by using a Hifiman adapter. When I read about connecting headphones to speaker amps I was curious if that could work. I didn't want to build a Robinette box by myself, because I don't trust myself in succeeding and...- Schnarpf

MCINTOSH LABS INTRODUCES NEW HEADPHONE AMP MODEL MHA 100
Very euphoric review, but I think you also have an Alo Audio Studio Six. Since both products are in the same range, high performance headphone amps, would it be possible to compare these two? Just for the fun of reading since I like the way you write.- Schnarpf

Sony HAP-Z1ES. New High-Res Streamer/Music Server from Sony
Thanks for the advice Andy Andy. The reason why I asked the question is that I have a nice Grado amp and a Grado phone that I use with my turntable with a Grado cartridge of course. My speaker system :ohas a DAC, a TT and a computer. I just ask myself if a media player with HD or SD cards would...- Schnarpf

Sony HAP-Z1ES. New High-Res Streamer/Music Server from Sony
Has anyone had the chance to compare it to other players like an AK240? Both could be very good in your home setup, but how do they differ sonically? Of course with your own headphone amp. The AK is an amp as well, but if you love the sound signature of your own amp because it works great with...- Schnarpf

Audeze LCD-2 vs Grado GS1000i
And: the GS1000 together with a Grado cartridge is fantastic: all sibilance is gone, the transparency stays, the bass is very strong. All in all, the sound gets darker than from my DAC, which is an Eximus DP-1. using the same TT with my Audeze, the sound is too dark, no more fun.- Schnarpf
