REVIEW: Unique Melody Merlin - hybrid dynamic/balanced armature custom IEM
RIght, yea you need the exposed pin type... I got a Norne Audio cable that eventually died too, now I've got one of these Westone ones and I'm very happy with it: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Westone-Black-ES-Cable-64/dp/B00C66YM28/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1511862910&sr=8-3&keywords=westone+es+cable...- kelske

REVIEW: Unique Melody Merlin - hybrid dynamic/balanced armature custom IEM
I've replaced my cable a couple of times, they use the same 2-pin connector that's common on UE/Westone/loads of others :)- kelske

Unique Melody Merlin Impressions Thread (All review and impression links located in the 1st and 2nd posts. Pics in posts 3 and 4)
Yea man the fit is great, and so isolation is really really good. The audiologist I used took fantastic impressions which must've helped. In our busy office with talking and music and phone calls going on, i can only hear the slightest murmer of conversation. With music playing? Nothing...- kelske

I'm coming from the LCD-X. Cost-wise: all up including impressions, shipping and the Merlins it was about $1100 NZD (~$950 USD). So, about half the cost of the LCD-X. I'd like to preamble this by saying I don't consider myself experienced enough to give a truly objective review...- kelske

$189 ALO Audio The Key USB DAC - 32-Bit / 384KHz with PCM5102A
I can however answer this one! The construction is great except for the cap (but the cap isn't that important tbh...). It's nice and robust. There's no play in the port, body or jack and the metal casing is all cut from a single piece. If you're just connecting via a 3.5mm it's not...- kelske

$189 ALO Audio The Key USB DAC - 32-Bit / 384KHz with PCM5102A
Sorry dude I wish I could give you some accurate impressions. I'm FAR from experienced enough to make a calculated, accurate and objective assessment of The Key's goods and bads. In my experience HeadFi can be somewhat smattered with half-baked impressions, and disseminating the good stuff is...- kelske

For anyone wondering about Android compatability, I tested this out with an OTG cable today and it works with USB audio player pro and my Note 2- kelske

Sweet.. Yea I've looked at the Merlins too, and the Miracles seem very highly rated. This is a cool review list: http://theheadphonelist.com/headphone-list/ the green ones are customs! If this is derailing the thread too hard, we could move this convo to PM- kelske

Cypher Labs Algorhythm Duet
Who doesn't know that...? ;-) My question was to do with this situation: - Where your source only outputs to single ended (e.g. ALO The Key) - You want to connect your headphones to it through an RSA (even though you won't get the fully balanced sound improvements this way). So...- kelske

Cypher Labs Algorhythm Duet
Hey all, I couldn't quite find a definitive answer to this question later in the thread, can anyone shed some light on this for me? :) So, single ended input + balanced output... possible? Or does it have to be single to single / balanced to balanced? Cheers- kelske
