    Pioneer's First Hi-End Headphones: SE-Master 1

Indeed, this is how I store mine: took a shipping box 12x14x10; from the thick, 2 inch foam cut the shape of the phone and made the lid out of the same foam as well. The foam came from an old mattress, btw - or you can buy them at any crafts store. I don't see the need to unhook the cable, just...

    Pioneer's First Hi-End Headphones: SE-Master 1

I've had an opportunity to compare Master1 with Monitor5 at AXPONA at the Pioneer stand two weeks ago. I've hoped the Monitors will be a closed version of Master1, but they are not.... which is fine given the difference in price. Heard plenty of Utopias, an incredible headphone in my view.

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Jason, thanks for asking. I am in the market for 8 channels of low-power, high-quality amplification, with balanced inputs. Four of 20W/ch, or even 10W/Ch stereo amps would do as well. Size and weight of no consequence, but being rack-mountable would be a huge plus.

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Dear Jason and Co, After having Freya for some time, I would like to share my thoughts and wish list for the V.2. Mostly wish list J - Having 3 outputs is great. o Having one more would be great; - Having 5 input is great. o I could use one more each balanced and...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

I use "musicians earplugs" in my line of work. Tried number of generic ones with limited success. Finally, went to an audiologist and had custom plugs made by Microsonic (http://microsonic-inc.com/). While I don't believe any such plugs will be completely transparent as far as timbre goes...

    Chair recommendations?

As they say, "sitting is new smoking". Far better solution is to use a kneeling chair, less strain your back. I have several and use them for about 20 years now, and there cannot be any comparison with any conventional chair. Beware of the Office Depot-type cheapos - try Hug Balance. They are...

Chinese / Asian Brand Info Thread (On or Over Ear Headphones)

Well, TH500 is with me for few days now. I found it very much to my liking. Compared to Sens HD650, they sound brighter on the top - the HD650 "feels" rolled off in comparison. I found bass cleaner and better defined with Fostex but not dramatically. Midrange is very different between these two...

Chinese / Asian Brand Info Thread (On or Over Ear Headphones)

I don't know anything about Status CB-1; just bought TH500RP, should receive in few days. I have heard planars and have couple of electret phones; they do sound very different from any close cans that I have/had.   What specific info you are looking for?     I am also always in a lookout...

    Pioneer's First Hi-End Headphones: SE-Master 1

Same traits as with DX1000: boomy and "lazy" bass (to lesser degree than DX1000). All bass notes are exaggerated. Candy to the eyes, but not to my ears.

    Pioneer's First Hi-End Headphones: SE-Master 1

I completely agree. While I like HD650 very much, they are indeed dull and sound congested in comparison with  SE1.   Comparing SE1 with DX1000 by memory, they are completely in different worlds to my ears. To me, DX1000 is great looking but that's about it. Boomy, loose, un-controlled bass...

How many headphones are too many?

I think if you need a four-wheel trailer to carry your phones to the meet, that may be considered excessive. If you can put them all in a single SUV, this would be about right amount for me.

Is Shoreline Music a safe place to buy things from?

I bought AudioEngine D1 DAC from Shoreline, which arrived defective; it was an "Open box" item however, To their credit, they replaced the DAC with a working unit. I can safely recommend Shoreline, they seem to be a decent place to buy.
