It will require a fresh install, just as if you built it anew, after you add memory to the open slots

It was difficult. Very difficult. And no, i did not take pictures, unfortunately. But i assure you, it can be done - and it is why i switched to using the Tarkan quad and the Samsung micro sd cards. With that configuration I can use the 3000 mah battery.

One of my 2TB ipods is built with the Quad and the extenders. It was a struggle to get them folded into the case!

keep in mind I use the 1T cards with the Tarkan Dual. If you use a Quad, you can go with the four 512Gb. For this I used the Green EVO select

I did not have good luck with the Lexar SDs. Did not work well in any configuration.

Well, I tried the 5G (Even though I was already convinced this was a limit imposed outside the iPod). It failed. I wondered if my cards might be counterfeit. I installed them in two separate iPods, one 7G and one 6G. I successfully loaded the 7G to about 1.6T and the 6G is loading now and is...

Yes, I sacrifice the dual boot feature, but all in pursuit of maximum storage (!) I’ve had very few disc corruption issues. The limit is present when I try to reformat in Windows. I didn’t check the device manager but when I attempt to reformat with AOMEI there is nothing additional to...

I didn’t try a 5G, but I seriously doubt it would make a difference. RockBox and the Tarkan adapters make it possible to reach such large capacities.

The storage limit on the 6G can easily be overcome by reformatting after an iTunes restore. ITunes limits the 6G to 128GB, but if you then install RockBox, then reformat and recopy the RockBox directories you and exceed the iTunes imposed limit. 7G classics will format all the way up to what...

It’s been a while since i posted on the thread, but i have some info to share today. I bought four 1T Sandisk MicroSD cards this week, loaded them into a Tarkan Quad, and went through the normal steps to build a Classic 6g TeraPod. Ipod would only read about 1.7T. Huh. I reformatted the cards...

That's an interesting question. I've read some of posts that suggest file copy issues with the Classic, or with the Video, especially with large batch transfers. I don't use disk mode to transfer. I did have some corruption issues with file transfer on a 32RAM Gen5 - but I have another without...

You've always been an early and avid suppoerter of the CF mod, and I admit, prior to the big SD cards, these were the most stable build to replace the mechanical HD. And certainly, the mSata build just isnt for the faint-hearted: it crashes and has to be reset, and was a pita on the 6 and 7 gen...

Do you know why that is? In every other version, if it properly formats the card, the only limit is the size of the database, which in every other version (again) is around 55k songs. The mini sets up the database just fine, appears to play the songs, just doesn't play sound. When the Video...

The upgrade of the mini to 256gb with the Lexar sd did not work. With 38k or greater songs, the ipod shows and appears to play sings, but no sound results. When switched to the sandisk 128, 18k songs, works like a charm.

Absolutely, the skipping issue is much more likely when loading through RB. However, I've not had the issue with mSATA Gen5.0 or Gen5.5 built with Crucial, BP4 and Samsung chips. I only have the issue when I use the Tarkan DualSD and 250 gb or greater cards in the Gen5.o or Gen5.5. Well, so far...

I've had similar problems when using SD cards with 'some' Gen5 ipods (regardless of the RAM). The latest was on a dualSD PNY TeraPod build. For me, the problem appeared to be during the upload of the files, because if I erased the offending files, they can often be reloaded to the ipod often...

Correct. Actually, if you dual boot to load up the iOS, and your iPod is set up to enable disk use, you don't have to enter disk mode. You just load to the default music folder you placed in the root (Mine is called "music"). You won't be able to play them from the iOS, but if you loaded RB you...
