I don’t mind spending a little bit more if it’s worth it. I’d almost rather buy some non-noise canceling closed Sennheisers or Beyerdynamics for that much though. Think they’d be useless on a flight? Maybe add a portable headphone amp? Thx!

Not a basshead, but I like warm rich mids. I like to hear instrument separation, and like organic sounding real instruments. I know that’s a challenge with closed headphones. Not sure where that falls within your options.

+1 to the Sennheiser 558's. I bought them used from the Amazon warehouse and love them. I find them to be warm and clean. I'm not a basshead though. I paired them with an Audioengine D1 for my office setup, and I've been very pleased.
