Help a bro out! :: HiFiMan RE-400 vs Etymotic HF5 vs Rock-it R-50 vs Vsonic GR07 ::
There's a GR07 thread around here. The Classic Edition is definitely cheaper than when the GR07 first came out. Don't know about the sound but you can check the thread out.- elbdogs

Help a bro out! :: HiFiMan RE-400 vs Etymotic HF5 vs Rock-it R-50 vs Vsonic GR07 ::
I have the RE4000, HF2, and GR07BE. The HF2 and 07 BE are more analytical sounding to me. The HF2 can handle some abuse but the ear plugs take some time to get used to because of the deep insertion. The HF2 and 07BE are also lighter in bass impact than the 400. I've read some posters complain...- elbdogs

What should I expect with Grado SR80i's
I love my Grados. At first the headband and the earpads were uncomfortable. The earpads were kind of scratchy. But after a month of use, they've softened up and no longer bother me. If you like a bass heavy sound, look for something other than the Grados.- elbdogs

Looking for the Hifiman RE-400 sound in a portable headphone
Really glad you like the PSBs. I'll have to audition them sometime. I'm trying the over ears. The on ears wasn't quite as good as the over ears. So far I'm liking them. Pretty comfortable. My ears fit inside the cups. I can see why sennheiser is described as having a laid back sound. On the...- elbdogs

IEM Upgrade Help
I had tried the ckx9is for awhile but returned it because the mids/highs were too recessed compared to the bass for me (and much more bassy than the Vsonic gr07be). The bass on the ckx9is is strong, detailed, and extends into the sub bass. It's really the strength of the ckx9is. The build on...- elbdogs

Open Cans that sound like the RE0
Thanks for your impressions. I was deciding between the HD 600 and the DT880. Looks like I'll have to check out the Senns. What kind of amp are you using?- elbdogs

VSonic GR02 Bass exceedingly bright + bad sibilance?
I just got a pair and those are my observations exactly. These are really bright. Hopefully burn in or new tips will mellow them.- elbdogs

Looking for the Hifiman RE-400 sound in a portable headphone
Just to update this thread. I was able to try the UE 6000 and the Martin Logans Mikros 90. UE 6000. This a warmer phone than the RE 400s. It's got a relaxed, laid back sound. The pads are comfortable and the clamping force is not noticeable but perhaps a little loose for vigorous activity. The...- elbdogs

Multi-IEM Review - 352 IEMs compared (Pump Audio Earphones added 04/03/16 p. 1106)
Let me amend my no bass comments. It's loud enough in the bass department (intro riff to "Billie Jean") but just not textured enough for my tastes (I like to listen to classical and enjoy cello deep notes) . Good luck on your search!- elbdogs

Multi-IEM Review - 352 IEMs compared (Pump Audio Earphones added 04/03/16 p. 1106)
I just got a second generation m6p for jogging. The volume control is an analog slider. Don't know if this is a negative for you. Sliding it down will turn the volume off, but sliding it up will only max the volume to whatever level your device is set to. I run with my galaxy s4 but I tested it...- elbdogs

HF5 or RE-400 for classical?
I have the hf2 and the re400. I only use the 400s these days. I find the hf2 lacking in bass and too analytical. Just my taste. Yours could differ.- elbdogs

Looking for the Hifiman RE-400 sound in a portable headphone
Hey guys, I need recommendations for a portable headphone I'm just thrilled with the sound of my HiFiMan RE-400s. I love how musical they are. Now I'm wondering if I can get a set of portable headphones (not IEMs) that have a similar sound signature? Over ears/Around ears/Open/closed it doesn't...- elbdogs

Hi Joker. I want to thank you for a great thread and blog. A couple of posts ago you mentioned an in line impedance adaptor. What is this, what does it do for you, and does it affect your ability to use smartphones as a source?- elbdogs

Sports phones sales from Meelec, $12.99 for the M6 $29.99 for the S6P (basically the M6P with a sports arm band). Too bad the M6P wasn't on sale because my Galaxy S4 is too big for the sports arm band. Good until Feb 4., midnight PST http://www.meelec.com/Articles.asp?ID=140- elbdogs

need earphones with decent isolation...might be used for running
I run and the only iem that stays snug is the Monster Isport. I have the Livestrong version and the c clip really holds it in place. The isolation is good, but if you swap the ear tips with some Sony hybrids (like those in the MDR EX 10), the isolation is incredible. I swapped them back out...- elbdogs
